None compare to the Thuringer Bratwurst, native to the province of Thuringia. Grill Teufel ("Devil's Grill") makes the best of the best: just a little spicy and served extra long on a tiny little bun. You can top it with either ketchup or mustard ("Senf"). There are a few stands in Jena, Weimar and Apolda. Chasing a Grill Teufel bratwurst with a dark lager (from the local breweries) is fantastic.
