Amazing. We went to give birth to our first son there. They made sure that we have all we want and need. What a refreshing way of treating a patient: with the care, equipment, and attitude that surpasses them all by far!! read more

My wife an I are from the US and have been in Poland for a few months. Two years ago after 6 months of Chemo Therapy I beat stage 4 Lymphoma, 6 months after that I was diagnosed with stage 3 Thyroid Cancer and after radiation and surgery I beat that also. I have been in remission and cancer free for over a year. When we arrived in Warsaw I noticed some symptoms had returned that may mean that my Lymphoma was no longer in remission, after a couple of appointments with a local Warsaw doctor it was suggested that I required a specialist and I was sent to Medicover. The first thing that I noticed when we arrived at Medicover was that they actually have a special American Office where they help folks like myself navigate everything. The second thing that I noticed that some of you may consider to be silly is that in most of the waiting rooms in the hospital they had a basket of fresh apples, I have never seen such a thing in a US hospital, you can get an apple in a US hospital but you have to pay for it, here in Warsaw they are offered for free, I found it to be a simple yet very thoughtful healthy and welcoming offering to hospital guests. And yes people were eating the apples! Over the last couple of weeks I have visited this hospital for a number of appointments where I received an Ultrasound, Blood work a CT scan and finally a couple of days ago I had surgery to remove a swollen lymph node under my arm so they can biopsy it and find out whats going on. The juxtaposition between hospitals in the US and the one I visited in Warsaw is amazing. Even with health insurance in the US it is sometimes difficult to get an appointment especially with a specialist, it takes weeks or longer to get an appointment with a doctor. Once you have an appointment you have to pay for everything, including the apples, even with insurance the co-payments can add up to thousands of dollars for a serious medical issue. The doctors at the hospital that I went to In Los Angeles California saved my life, seriously, and I love them for it especially the nurses, they were all amazing. Having said this I will also say that the health system in the US is totally unorganized, I had some major issues with the lack of organization at my hospital in CA, it felt like the left hand didn't often know what the right hand was doing. When someone has a potentially deadly disease they have enough going on in their life that the last thing they need to worry about is the logistics of their health care system. Being a cancer patient and constantly looking over your shoulder is stressful enough, now consider being in another country where you don't speak the language and you suddenly find that you require a hospital. Here is where the juxtaposition that I spoke of earlier comes into play, from the first visit to Medicover Hospital it was obvious that I was no longer dealing with the US health system. From the fresh apples to the reception desk to the surgery room everything was so organized and simple with very little waiting. The system that they have in place make so much sense, I required a cancer doctor so they sent me to a cancer doctor. I Showed up at the hospital and within a couple of hours I had a visit with a specialist as well as receiving an ultrasound and blood work, following this I visited the American Office where they set up multiple appointments for the next week as well as translating everything that I needed to know into English. Within just over a week of my first visit I had an appointment for surgery, the steps to have surgery were so simple, first you visit the surgeon that will and have a conversation, next you visit the anesthesiologist and from there a visit to the phlebotomist for blood work. After these visits I then met with the business coordinator, where you schedule and pay for the surgery and have any unanswered questions or concerns answered. At each of these appointments I felt as if I was having a conversation with a concerned friend who happened to be a medical professional, the meeting were un rushed and if my wife or I didnt ask the right questions they were asked for us. Each department that we visited was very professional and organized, I felt like they were truly concerned about my health and not just about making money, I cant say this about the US system. I dont have insurance in Poland and had to pay out of pocket for everything, for a quarter of what I would pay in the US I have received amazing care, even with insurance in the US it is less expensive to receive care here and quality of care has been exceptional! I have reached my limit on words so I will end by saying, even though I have yet to find out if my cancer has returned, Medicover made this experience as stress free as it could have, thank you Medicover for the 5 star service! read more
