Past month my mother has had 2 doctor appointments cancelled in less than 24 hours. Today, I asked for decaf coffee at the coffee shop and was given caffeine. Tried to look at glasses in the Optical Shop. The background color distracts from being to view the frames. Seems as the facility needs some help in many areas. read more

Medical Associates - Dubuque, Iowa

on hold for an unreasonable amount of time. transferred multiple times to find out why I needed to reschedule an appointment a week away. the SOONEST they could see me was in May. 5 months away. I need to see a doctor now, not in five months. every doctor I've encountered at Med Associates DBQ has been unprofessional and the wait in any department is diabolical for medical care. do not enroll in their insurance either!! read more

I can't even explain the level of incompetence I have received from my DNP and from Acute Care. . No follow-ups on high blood test levels, no follow up to messages, dismissed me from Acute Care with dangerously high GGT levels telling me that it was my liver and they couldn't do anything for me there. After an emergency gall bladder surgery that night after leaving acute care, I am better. The blood draws have been indicating problems for two years, DNP didn't get a quick answer regarding what was wrong and didn't explore further. I am now fully convinced that I will die from medical neglect. read more

This company did not turn my claim into my insurance! The number you call are foreign and are hard to understand. They wanted me to pay my bill without turning it in to insurance. This company only cares about MONEY! read more

As a new patient I can see why this medical organization has one point seven stars in its reviews. If you ever get into see a doctor then it's fine but the steps and the hoops you have to jump through trying to get an appointment or ever trying to talk to a nurse is ridiculous. I finally got ahold of the manager Darcy of internal medicine who basically told me the nurse is rignht, I'm wrong and it is just the way it is. This is not the person that should be returning phone calls to upset patients. She was terrible. If I have to come back in to have labs done as a recheck, why do I need to have an appointment first? Why can't you just send me to get the labs and then have me meet with the Doctor? No, they want me to come meet with the Doctor, then go get my labs, come back and meet with the Doctor and then come back 2 weeks later for a physical. So they can charge me for 3 visits.I'll pass. read more

They have "Family Accounts", so when my insurance company (different from my son's) disputed a claim, they wouldn't see my son because of my outstanding balance under dispute. I was willing to pay, but they ambushed me at the appointment, so I didn't have anything on me to pay the entire balance. My disabled son's coverage includes everything, there isn't even a co-pay. They knew that they would get paid in full for his appointment, yet still would not see him. I will not reschedule, not when you let a child do without because you don't like the parent's insurance company. read more

I had been going to Medical Associates for years and when we came under financial hardship after my son's birth, our account went into collection. This resulted in my husband and I being unable to go to appointments, but they were mandated to see our son. In the past I had asked to speak with a charity department and they simply said, "No you may not." Well, times got better and we were able to make payments on our account in collections. Recently we found out we were pregnant and were going to back to Medical Associates because the doctors there are so wonderful! A few hours after I made the appointment they called to tell me I would have to pay the cost of the visit upfront PLUS the $300 balance on our account. They didn't seem to care that we had made payments and were consistent with them, they just wanted the rest of the balance or they refused to see me. Now it's my understanding that without proper medical care a woman could miss health complications that put her and the baby at risk. It is also my understanding that it is unethical to turn someone away from necessary medical care who does not have the ability to pay. Though the doctors are wonderful, stay away from Medical Associates if you can't pay what they say when they say, otherwise you may find yourself ill and unable to get treatment because this establishment hasn't seen enough of your money (in their opinion). read more
