Has become an urgent care clinic. I have to wait 6 weeks to see my GP now. I don't find that very helpful. It's like having no doctor at all

Trying to get some simple information on the phone from the receptionist at Wallace Street Clinic…read morefelt like walking straight into an emotional and physical ambush. It's wild how something so simple... seeking care and getting some straight answers.... can leave you drained and frustrated. When did we start accepting maximum frustration as normal? When did healthcare stop being about care? The staff (in healthcare and in customer service in other places these days) aren't the enemy. They're cogs in a system designed to obstruct, not to serve. This has become a system that echoes the cold, dehumanizing machinery of a totalitarian regime. Is that really what we want to model in our lives? Is this the future we want for our children, where empathy is crushed under the weight of rigid control? Every encounter like this erodes our spirit, leaving us all holding ourselves together by sheer willpower. How long can we keep going like this before .... well?..... the system IS clearly already broken so let's say before people wake up? If we want a different future, we need to see this clearly for what it is, and refuse to hand over a world where humanity is forgotten and the worst of authoritarianism becomes our norm.

-same day appts. -safe space for ALL women…read more-clothes 'wardrobe' for women in need -breakfast pastries for those who need 'em (on the day of my visit, could be standard fare) -haircuts -computer usage -phone usage -yoga & art classes (donations accepted) This collective is a true gem. Beyond the fact that one can access gratis medical visits--thanks, Canada!--this clinic is a 'clean, well-lighted' & welcoming space for women from all social strata. My visit with the RN began ten minutes after my 10.30 appt. time. The client just before me had left at about a quarter past the hour. Be prepared to wait a bit, I guess. Not used to not having to pay for every little thing regarding health care, I was compelled to make a financial donation after my visit as both a thank-you & a way to support what is a very necessary women's institution. When I inquired, I was told that the collective would gladly accept a donation of women's clothing. Preferring to make a monetary donation, I was sent to chat with the clinic's director. PayPal would be the way to go, if one is so inclined.

If you're a woman looking for a walk-in clinic in the area, I highly recommend them.
