The primary reason was the…read morePA at the Urgent Care facility wanted additional validation that I was experiencing early stages of Bell's palsy vs early stages of a stroke. The care in the ER was excellent; they did physical stroke tests to confirm no muscle function was diminished. They, also, drew blood to confirm my symptoms were not tied to Lyme disease. I spent around 4 hours here and I got wonderful care. They discharged me with several prescriptions and within days the facial numbness was almost gone and the virus was fading. Big calls out to Dr. Ryan Razek and Nurse Tracy for their care; both gave me excellent care. Dr. Razek gave me much peace of mind in explaining why I was experiencing Bell's palsy vs early stages of a stroke.

To my surprise, you can grab a spot in line online before you even arrive. With 30 minutes to wait, I could relax at home and just show up when it was much closer to my turn. To expedite things even further, you can take photos of your ID and insurance cards and fill out all paperwork before you even arrive! When you do enter, a kiosk allows you to check that you are there and that's it! The nurses were able to quickly get me a steroid and help to provide care... urgently! This is a huge upgrade over the old ways of MedExpress.

He was immediately taken care of by so many wonderful. Kind people. Many tests were quickly done. While waiting for the test results we were taken to a room upstairs just incase he had to be admitted. While waiting for the test results, he was treated to a delicious lunch and made comfortable. My husband was blessed to be able to come home that same night. Our treatment there was above and beyond anything we could have imagined. The debacle started when I attempted to add the credit union located within to the Yelp pages and it went downhill very fast. The VA as we all know is a hospital system that serves our Veterans. In Pittsburgh there are several location that you can go including the now closed Highland Drive division the HJHeinz campus located in Aspinwall, but they all tie back into this location that is in the Oakland area of the city. The address is very generic. The best way to tell you exactly where it is and by telling you that it is located across the street from the Falk School. If you still have no idea it is located on the hilltop overlooking Pitt University. If you can make your way to the Petersen Events Center, you are so close to here, go past the dorms and Greek housing and you will find the hospital. The VA offers an array of clinics, surgeries, and testing under one roof. This campus not only has the medical units but also houses a research building, pharmacy, Fisher House, and a consolidation building that holds all the behavioral health needs. Also housed within is a Patriot Store for your shopping needs, this isn't your usual hospital gift shop. Patriot Cafe for your dining needs. VA Pittsburgh Federal Credit Union for your banking needs. Two ATMs, one located at the main entrance from the parking garage and one located in the Patriot Cafe. Drop boxes for postal pick up. Starbucks coffee with a small cafe setting. Did I mention that parking is free here? When the parking is nearing capacity that is when the valet service really ramps up their service here. Also there is a bus stop located out front and shuttle service between facilities.

The only thing that would have been better was if they had coffee and donuts for us after we got our shot (but then again, it would mean a bunch of people with no masks on, so that's probably not a good idea . . . LOL). I am already scheduled to come back again for my second shot in April, and I also will be receiving a phone call from my doctor for a "virtual checkup" soon. Cheers!
