Asian homeware shop opposite post office, Glenroy. Cool products alas so rude. This kinda behaviour is exactly why the 'Asian level of service' was coined were no service is considered good service. It doesn't apply most of the time, but certainly does in this case. Wow if I wanted to be treated like this I'd go home (let's just say home is not a happy place). The woman behind the counter with a top knot asks if I have money (is this a compliment suggesting I'm 12 cause I'm carrying a mini backpack and not a birkin?) In a judgy tone, and then she demands to know my budget. Look woman I just asked for the prices since most of the items I picked up don't have price tags. You had to be there, what a condescending b*tch! My friend was with me and absolutely appalled that I didn't just leave (i know it's so wrong and goes against all principles but I really wanted the flowers). But wow. What kinda weirdo attacks a stranger like that? And all just cause they're not blindly spending but asking prices - I believe this is why I was attacked, though other people are saying it's a racist attack from what I've read, it's not a once off incident. This is the absolute worst service I've had in very long time. Top 3 since we've been here (12yrs). And the other experiences involved sexist remarks (tech involved) and shaming (failed). Like most Asian homeware shops it's a clutter zone and the opposite of spacious concrete Kmart. This is definitely a hazard zone. I'm not even going to talk about what nice stuff they sell, as my blood is boiling. Absolutely disgusting "service". TLDR; terrible judgy service (think of the stereotypical mother in law x100). I've been reviewing a fair few junk shops lately so I'll keep this one short and sweet and identify the differences you'll find here. So, along with the usual array of trash and treasure, this place stocks a great selection of cheap, oriental inspired home decorating items; lanterns, flags, wall adornments, figurines etc. I love it most here though for the cheap cheap CHEAP collectors canvas prints in black and white, from Madonna, Elvis and other Hollywood legends to famous footy stars. If you've got a themed room you can pick up each of these beauties for $15. You can put them in frames or line them up, they look so effective and you just can't tell the diff between these or a $200 print once they're on the wall. Great gift ideas! read more

I am new to the area, so I wanted to see what some of the local businesses had to offer. I walked into this shop and the two people behind the counter asked what I needed, I told them I was just having a look. They told me I couldn't look, I needed to find what I wanted and go, they said this was because of the COVID, but I was wearing a proper mask and sanitised my hands before entering. I wasn't at all surprised to see that others had experienced rudeness in this shop. I am disappointed because I love these stores, this one is huge, so unless you know what they have, I guess you can't shop there, I guess they are not looking for new customers. When so many good small businesses are closing due to COVID, I guess these guys are fortunate that they can literally kick new customers out as they step in the door. read more

I will never set foot in this store again. Reason: When entering the store you feel like you're a criminal by the way the staff eyeball your every step and follow you everywhere. When asked directly "Are you following me?" one of the staff members said no. When I moved to another location in the store she followed me again while pretending to tidy up the area. Second visit: a male staff member follows me everywhere as I'm looking around. The same feeling of being not only stared at continuously, but that uncomfortable feeling of being followed like a criminal. I asked "Are you following me?" again the same reply "no, just checking some things." I tested them by walking to different areas of the store noticing in the corner of my eye, every staff member in the store watching like vultures,.. I turned around to see the male staff member who was inconspicuously, "following" me. I felt bad, I felt judged and discriminated by that experience while in the MDC store! *Be warned you will feel like you have been judged even though you have not committed a crime. 1 star for the junk, 0 stars for the hospitality. read more

These guys are simply nonsense.Don't know basic behavioural etiquettes.Moreover, you need to squeeze yourself through their shelves.There is so little space that things get dropped when you walk past them.When you say sorry they look at you as if you're from some distant planet.When you suggest them to improve their spacing they snap at you in a rude way.What do these guys think? Are they doing some favour by selling cheap stuff?If their reason for this behaviour is that we are outsiders in this country these guys should also realise that they are outsiders as well and were given a place by the government. This sort of attitude shows their level of education and they have no right to behave this way. I'm really surprised that the council lets these guys remain in business. I will be heading to the moreland council office to report their arrogant behaviour and would not even give a rating of 0 to them. I recommend a negative rating to them and would suggest people to avoid them.Shame on you guys!!You don't even understand you're losing customers this way. read more

I live in Glenroy & have now for over 10 years. I have probably been in this shop 25 times during that time. They have never been one for 'service' but their stuff is so cheap it's probably not their concern. It never bothered me until this week. They are not only rude but they place the customers lives at risk with their oh&s standards or lack of them, & then when something falls on you, hurts you, gets broken - they then try to intimidate you into paying for it - when it's their fault! From having a 10kg statue fall on my shoulder and break on the ground to them yelling at me to pay for it, when it's stored at the back of their shop on shelves above head height - how is that my fault? Then in the middle of my injury & them not taking ownership of their fault they start yelling at this poor old lady who was trying to return a faulty product - with the receipt - telling her she broke it & they don't have to refund it. The male owner was laughing at the poor old lady & calling her names saying she had a disability and the lady behind the counter was laughing at the old lady as well, all whilst I was standing there with my shoulder cut & bleeding & them failing to give me first aid. Seriously - MDC owners are sick people. I would not advise shopping from them. I will never step foot in their store again and seeking legal advice on Tuesday. Right now I'm going to the Northern to have my shoulder xrayed. Shop their at your own risk & don't expect courtesy or basic common decency. read more
