This is not my favourite place to shop for magazines. It's a very small and bright yellow space,…read moremarks off right there for being jostly and headache-inducing. They do stock a wide variety of titles, but they're so crammed together on the shelves it's hard to browse. Plus, the setup of the store means that the owner/cashier is directly behind me as I'm looking, and I find it very uncomfortable to have someone's eyes burning into my back as I'm trying to shop. If I open a magazine to look through, I do so half-cringing, waiting at any moment for a voice (Apu? Is that you?) to cry out "Hey! This is not a lending library!" That's never actually happen, but still. On the plus side, some of you might like that they stock a lot of Vancouver pictorial books and maps, as well as several international newspapers. For me, I'll only go here if I need some trashy gossip rags for the SeaBus; it's not my serious new magazine discovery port of call.

She was yelling and screaming at me for her own fault. I was working at a big company near Londsdale Quay. One day I went to the shop to grab a painkiller. i picked up a very tiny bottle of ty****l as it was the only thing they had. At the cashier the owner woman told me how much it was, and it was quite expensive. I believe it was about three times more expensive than regular stores. I felt disappointed at the price, but bought it anyway as I was having a really bad headache and there were no other stores available near me at that time. I did not complain or gave her a nasty look at all, but I guess she sensed that I was disappointed at the price. I gave her a $20 bill and she gave me the wrong amount of change. So I went back to her to get the right amount. She gave me a nasty evil look and she yelled at me she didn't make a mistake. So I said, "Then, you think I am making up a story just for a couple of dollars? I came back here to get the right amount of my change." The woman eventually gave my the change but she started to scream at me, "It is a small store, that's why the price is expensive. You don't like it? Then you go to a different shop!! I never made this kind of mistake before". Also she asked me where I was working so that she would go to my employer and complain about me. She probably thought that I was working at one of those shops at the Quay market, and she could badmouth me to put me in trouble. However, when I told her where I was working, she became quiet for a few seconds, then she said, "I am sorry" but still in an abominable manner. Obviously, she instinctively realized if she did any stupid things that she could end up losing her business instead of hurting me. Apparently the woman doesn't seem to know what business ethics are all about. Just because she owns a small shop, and there are no competitors around her, doesn't mean she could jack up the price as high as she wants. I didn't' complain to her about the price nor gave her a bad look. However, just because she noticed disappointment on my face, she didn't give me the right amount of change. Well, she insisted that it was just a mistake but who knows? Obviously, this woman has absolutely no professionalism, but the only thing she could do was yelling and screaming at her customer despite the fact that she was at fault. I would never go back to this shop again, and I wouldn't recommend anybody to go there either. The good thing is that now there are many shops available over there to go instead like Shoppers Drug Mart etc.
