However, they've recently impressed me even more by fixing my old baseball glove. I recently broke one of laces in the webbing and I wasn't looking forward to breaking in a new glove. That's when I remembered that my Dad used to bring his and my gloves to the local shoemaker who had the tools to replace broken leather webbing and laces. Sure enough, Watt's is not only a terrific local shoe store, but can also fix a baseball glove too.

I generally try and get here once every couple of months and check out the store - they seem to stock a decent range of shoes for different occasions and I particularly love shopping for sandals. A couple of years ago I bought a pair of sandals here for around $60. I have worn them every summer for the past few years and have taken them on several trips. They are worn but still gorgeous, faded but still functional, tired but still comfy. They are one of my favourite pairs that I have ever had. I got them from here. Needless to say I have nothing bad to say about this store. Traffic Footwear is a great place to buy a pair of shoes and if you are a lucky enough to get a pair of sandals, rest assured that the quality will most likely be superb.

My poor feet had been hurting from all the walking and travelling that I've been doing. Because I had already worn down my former Orthaheel sandals, I was due for a new pair. Shoes are great, but living in Hawaii and California for nearly all my life has conditioned me to wear sandals on a regular basis. I needed something quick, easy, and comfortable when I head out the door. The Walking Company provided many options for that! Many shoe stores I've visited rarely stocked orthopedic footwear- the only exception being the podiatrist clinic. Unfortunately, there is not much selection in design in such places. While my primary aim was to find orthopedic sandals, I also had a strong preference with ones with pretty designs. Although I have a foot problem, I don't necessarily want to advertise it to the world! Some footwear brands, such as Vionic and Orthaheel, offer this extra feature. I like the illusion of wearing cute sandals that don't look like orthopedic crutches. If I'm going to be spending extra money on special sandals, they best look nice! In actuality, I didn't have to spend extra money for nice sandals at The Walking Company! They were having a sale and much of their shoe prices were reduced. A pair of Ahnu sandals that originally costed $149 were on sale for only $89. The prices are still a little steep for me, but most orthopedic footwear is expensive. This was a pretty good deal. Also, they have a return/exchange policy that's pretty good. You can try out the shoes and see how it feels at home for a few days, and if it's not the right fit you are welcome to return it. The staff was really helpful and friendly! I am probably the most indecisive person in the world! It takes a while for me to decide what I really want. When it comes to making a decision that's going to affect your daily life (i.e. shoes, sandals), you want to make sure it's a worthy investment, right? The lady helping me was very attentive and wasn't put off by my lack of decision-making skills. After spending a while deciding between all the options, I decided to check out the Ahnu sandals. It can definitely be difficult to find shoes that's just the right fit. If you want a wide selection of footwear, I would definitely recommend this place. They cater to both men and women. I am a big fan of Merrell's as they have the vibram sole that I know will last climbing any mountain. The Walking Company stock the largest range of Merrell's that I have been able to find which is probably why I keep coming back here. They also have a large range of other brands that would suit any foot and purpose.

The prices here are hefty to put it one way. I saw shoes priced at $180, $220 and I don't even want to remember the other price tags. It seemed quite out of place for the shopping centre that it is in. The other shops in the centre are relatively cheap but this store was quite over the top. The shoes were quite original though. There were brightly coloured wedges, sandals, heels contrasted with plain coloured of different styles. There was a large range too. As well as shoes they stock a variety of luxury handbags - also with 'luxury' prices. The bags were very beautiful but not deserving of such prices, which is why I have docked a star off. The staff in here seem to target people who look like they have money. They latched quickly onto the elder ladies in the store while ignoring me - the younger person in jeans and a jumper looking at the pink and yellow wedges. Fair enough I didn't have any money so their assumption was right but it still isn't very nice to be treated that way. Goodbye second star.

The prices are varied, while there are some very expensive shoes over $200 these are more often the very dressy ones. There are also plenty of well priced ones I usually find I pay around $110 to $130, and I have snapped up a few bargains at arond $60 a pair as well.

They have fixed my boots when they've…read morestruggled a bit after a wet weekend, and mended my suede heels after a drunken fall - all for a reasonable price. The thing I love the most about Rekaris is the passion they have for shoes. When I brought in those tainted suede heels, the gent behind the counter gave them a once over, shook his head and said; "Jackie... what did you do to these?!" He promised to do what he could considering the damage. The outcome? Good as new! Rekaris is located in the handy location of City Central, perfect if you work in the city. So check them out next time you want to freshen up your favourite pair of shoes.

Thank goodness for the blokes at Rekaris shoes, who've salvaged everything from the heels on a pair of vegan suede cowboy boots to the soles of of my multi-coloured Brazilian sandals. Prices are reasonable and service is polite and good humoured. It's a bit out of the way for me so I recently tried a shoe repair place in my neighbourhood rather than take the train to the CBD. I haven't gotten the shoes back yet so can't testify to the quality of the repairs but they were way more expensive then Rekaris. If only I could learn to walk like a normal human being.....Until then there's always Rekaris!
