In this messed-up world getting darker every day, without Christians shining as the light, nobody sees real hope or truth. Jesus said it straight: "You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden... let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven" (Matthew 5:14-16). We're called to be salt and light--not sitting quiet, but bold. Christianity ain't just some peaceful religion; we serve a God who's a warrior for justice. "The Lord is a warrior; the Lord is His name" (Exodus 15:3). We fight spiritual battles, not flesh and blood (Ephesians 6:12), and we're geared up to stand firm. Life is sacred from the jump--pro-life is straight Bible. God forms us in the womb: "For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb... Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me" (Psalm 139:13-16). He hates innocent blood shed (Proverbs 6:16-17), and tells us to rescue those headed to death (Proverbs 24:11-12). Restoration Life Christian Church is a blazing light right here in Los Angeles--modern Sodom--refusing to bow to the darkness. Shoutout to the warriors there proclaiming truth unashamed! In fact, every Sunday feels more like a reunion than simply attending a church service. Pastor Rob is genuine and transparent about his own life. He doesn't pretend to have it all together, and his vulnerability makes his teaching relatable. His messages are practical and grounded in the Word. Bridge South Bay's worship is top notch. The church has always been blessed with gifted worship leaders, and Pastor Corina is no exception. She has a gift for leading people into a heartfelt time of worship that keeps the focus on the Lord. The congregation is welcoming and made up of mature believers, many of whom have walked through life's hardships and victories together. The church has ministries for babies and younger kids, and Pastor Jonathan does a great job with students. The area where the church could grow is in its young adult ministry. Many young adults love the worship and teaching, but some choose to attend larger churches because they're looking for more opportunities to connect with other singles. But if your priority is finding a church where Christ is honored, within a community of authentic people who truly care about one another, Bridge South Bay is a wonderful place to call home.

Little did we know God blessed us with one literally right next door to our new home. We are so thankful to Gardena Valley Baptist Church, the pastors, staff and the children's ministry. The children's ministry have played a huge part in helping shaped our daughters lives from when they were infants to now (last year in high school). As parents it's so important to have a community that's there for support and partnering with us parents to help raise our future generations in the Lord. Our church has expanded and we've seen many changes throughout the years but one thing is certain, our God is moving mightily in our church. He is moving in the hearts of His people. We pray for revival not just in our church but for all over the world. May we pray to have eyes to see, ears to hear and hearts to obey. May we as congregation be a church that love and serve others just as Christ loved us. May we seek and surrender to God's will in our lives. May we partner with the Holy Spirit allowing him to teach, lead and guide us each day to live in obedience as well as sharing the gospel boldly with those he's put in our paths. If you are reading this review and would like more information about our wonderful church please feel free to reach out! I don't believe in accident, God has a beautiful way of bringing his people together.

His vision for helping our congregation change from the inside out is making a difference in the lives of people in our congregation. Rather than having individuals just focus on changing behaviors or to do "good works", he is encouraging us to spend daily quality time with God, reading His Word and talking with Him. The overflow of that deepening, intimate relationship and love for God is the impetus for wanting to please Him and to live out our faith. We are so blessed to not only have a pastoral staff who inspire us through wonderful Biblical teaching, but who encourage us to use our spiritual gifts to serve one another and work together with us to build up the body of Christ. Whatever your life stage, this is a place where you can find connection and support. We are so fortunate to be an intergenerational church. The older generation have great wisdom and experience to share with those younger and the younger have new ideas and energy to benefit the body at GVBC. They have an excellent Children's Ministry, Youth Ministry, a growing College/Young adult group, and Women's Ministry. Their Re-Engage program supports married couples whether you are newly married or have been married for a long time. They also offer community small groups for all life stages that meet weekly to learn together as well as to get prayer and support. (These are key opportunities to translate what we hear on Sunday mornings into how we live our everyday lives at home, at school, with our families, friends and at church). GVBC does their best to balance nurturing their church family while also not forgetting to focus outward as well. They try to share God's love by doing outreach and loving their local community as well as supporting those who are doing the same thing overseas. The "Fun with Friends" or the "Prime Timers" (senior) group utilize their gift of hospitality to plan social events where you can meet new people and can invite your friends to have fun and do the same. GVBC is not a perfect church because a perfect church does not exist. We are imperfect people, who are redeemed by God's incredible grace and mercy, and empowered by His Spirit to share that love with others. We make mistakes, but hopefully, we can learn from them, and then humbly move forward.

On this Sabbath day I've landed at Calvary Chapel LAX for a very special celebration of life event . In honor of my beautiful friend Hazel Hernandez . Hazel was a phenomenal woman! Growing up Downey Hazel was one of those amazing mothers that always welcomed you in with a smile on her face. At the end of any evening you could catch her coming home from work and watering her plants. I've taken many walks around the block with her . Always prepared to hear the stories of each house and she's known for years. The best stories, and yet a wonderful listener. My favorite thing she would do was use a catchphrase that she borrowed from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and made it her own. It wasn't a visit with Hazel until she hit you with that Cowabunga or two . Raise her arms in the air with excitement, Cowabunga ! The best ! She never judged me even when she knew I wasn't making the best life choices. A single mother living the American dream, raising three boys on her own. Her face would shine so bright when she would look into the eyes of her Family. Just so much love . . I want to thank all three Hernandez brothers for sharing their beautiful mother with me. I love that house ! Mat would read me books David would drive me around and Jason would let me raid his CD Collection. It was a safe place for me growing up and I'm grateful . She raised true gentleman . I will hold her close to my heart forever . Hazel Hernandez you will be missed . I find comfort in knowing that we will meet again in heaven. Thank you to the Calvary Chapel LAX for making such a beautiful celebration of life event . The music and all the beautiful words were so perfect.

Every Tuesday night a hot meal is available to anyone who is hungry. We also have a food pantry that distributes groceries to needy families and homeless people twice a month. Currently we serve on the average 120 meals every Tuesday evening, and approximately 300 families per month benefit from our food pantry. In our approach, special attention is placed on making the homeless and hungry feel special and important and promoting "one on one" relationships. Every person who comes for a meal or groceries is served with dignity and respect. We strive to show all persons that they are valued. Project: NEEDS provides the foundation for change in our local community. We are a grassroots project that is community supported. We have local churches and interfaith groups that volunteer and provide resources. We are proud to have established a long-going relationship with philanthropic and civic organizations throughout the South Bay. Although Project: NEEDS is a church program, faith is not the primary issue concerning this project. We serve those in need without concern for religion, race, sexuality, health or city of residence. We hope to show our faith by turning our words into actions. Pastoral support and counseling is available to anyone expressing interest.
