Late deliveries, wrong product when they arrive. Ordered a tin of 1792 Flake which accoring to their advert comes in a tin, and again according to their advert is not for sale loose unless as a sample. I ordered 50g in a tin, I received a bag of Flake. I do not normally smoke loose unless trying a sample because its never as good or fresh. I also ordered 3 other samples over a week back and have received no word, they also ignore their messages through the 'Contact Us ' section. read more

Without condoning smoking this is such a fantastic old fashioned shop! It sells just about everything a smoker could need and has been in Exeter High Street as long as I can remember. A few years ago the original Mr McGahey passed away, but the shop appears to be still going strong and has diversified with the addition of a pavement coffee shop area. If you must smoke - get your lighters and so on from a shop with class! read more

If you're into smoking then McGaheys is a shop to visit. Situated on the High street they stock a mind-boggling array of both rolling and pipe tobacco's along with a selction of cigars. If you need a Zippo, this is the place to go! read more

Good customer service, knowledgeable staff are friendly and they had Mahawat and Gauloise Disque Blue so I was very happy, excellent selection of products, I went to school back in the days of yore with a McGahey so I have smoked since 1967 on and off and I always would stop by the shop er....after school, and I still get the thrill of going in there for my supply. read more

A good tobacconist, with varied stock. A very pleasant experience -if you still smoke!

I really do want to shop local and support local businesses, but do you know what? I've given up here. They never have anything the website says they do, I have WATCHED THEM repackage an off-the-shelf tobacco to sell as the much-desired but discontinued Digger Flake, (internet customers beware; if you order Digger Flake, you're actually getting Ogden's Walnut or something like it), the staff don't seem to have the foggiest idea what they keep in stock, and their cigars are drier than the Gobi. The only positive thing I can say is that they do good coffee, their Riversmeet Flake is actually very good, and they can generally be relied upon if you want to buy a bog-standard Dunhill pipe tobacco. It's a hell of a shame, because I'm sure Exeter once had a traditional tobacconist to be proud of, like Bath or Oxford do. For the tobacco connoisseur a visit to McGahey's is like a visit to the Monty Python cheese shop.... read more
