So, I went to McDonalds in the Netherlands. It was at a rest stop; how could I resist! Service was quick, as expected. The combos are a little different there, but what made me so happy was the dipping sauce for the fries. I ordered fries and she asked if I wanted any sauce. Never been asked that in Canada. I asked what kinds there were. Many were similar to McNugget sauces, but they had Fritessaus! If you're there, you must try it! I'd only seen it in Canada at Dutch stores, never a restaurant. Needed a quick dinner so we stopped on the way to Amsterdam from Belgium at a rest stop, The food tasted the same as the US and they have Fritessaus which is mayonnaise which if you are American reading this is great to try. There is an automatic machine for payment using a credit card with touch screen which is really nice. We tried using our corporate card which was rejected and I assume it may be on the companies do not use list since it is a rest stop and had a unique name, our cards work everywhere in Europe normally. It said declined on the receipt but then said to go to the counter. We tried the card several times each and then was concerned later that multiple orders were placed. The receipt should just say declined in my opinion to prevent confusion. The environment is modern and nice. read more
