I ordered on the app like I always do, and I waited for like 30 minutes and then they tell me they're not taking any orders at the drive through window. It's 8:00 PM btw, 3 hours before they close. So I told her I had already paid for my food, and begrudgingly they helped me, but it still took like 20 minutes at the window before I got my food. Why did they have to shut down WhataBurger downtown when they could've just shut this place down. It's so bad. If it weren't downtown, there would genuinely be no reason to ever go to this McDonald's. I hate this location from the bottom of my heart and wish they would just condemn the place and replace it with something else and management that can hire a decent staff. I typically don't frequent McDonalds but recently have had cravings for a Big Mac. Big Macs were my favorite meal back in my teens...long time ago. Anyway we stopped at this McDonalds and I have to say it almost cured me of my Big Mac cravings. The restaurant was very dirty. In fact every table was dirty except for the tables with chairs stacked on them. Neither of the drink machines were in working order. The empty tea canister had a dirty wet cleaning rag on top which was being swarmed by fruit flies. The bathroom smelled of urine. You have to order from the kiosk as no employees would man the counter. In fact there were only 2 employees working in the food area and the remaining 4-5 were in the parking lot congregating with non-employees. It took awhile to get my order. I will say that my Big Mac was pretty good but I absolutely would not eat there again for fear of becoming ill. Unfortunately this McDonalds is centrally located in downtown Auburn right next to that nice new hotel the Graduate, and is not a good reflection of the best that Auburn has to offer. If I could leave a zero star I would. This restaurant is not really open 24 hours. It's false advertising. We stopped to get breakfast before a road trip at 0430. I've visited this McDonalds a few times and I can't think of anything good from my experiences. When I first visited this McDonald's a few weeks ago, I went inside to pick up my order. An employee was mopping the floor in a wide area around the soda machine and food pickup area, but the caution sign was almost nowhere near it. I hate to criticize mopping technique but there was soo much water/cleaning solution just puddled around the whole area. It didn't make any sense. But the mopping was useless because the floor and drink area were filthy. On the counter where the straws and soda tops were, I saw so many gnats either hovering around the counter or dead on the surface. I had plenty of time waiting to also see there were a few dead gnats on the floor as well. I'm hoping just the front of the store is gross and the kitchen is kept somewhat clean? Today I waited 30 minutes starting at 10:30 pm for a quarter pounder meal after doing a mobile order. The burger was missing the onions, pickles, and mustard. Had a Charbroiled Burger, COLD Fries, and NO extra sauce on the side like stated in the ORDER. Not bad if you're going in the morning the workers are normally friendly and get your food correct. Anything after 5pm is a toss up and after 8pm, I'd consider swat gear. There's always some sketchy people hanging out in the lobby and in the parking lot. Probably not the best place to go alone, especially if you appear lost or uncertain. However, it takes FOREVER for ANYTHING, Ice Cream is never available because the "machine is down" 24/7, and if you try to do anything through DoorDash expect an hour wait at least for your order. I was waiting at the mcdonalds line for 30 minutes with a very long line behind me. The workers yelled at us outside while taking the trash out and enjoying a smoke break noting that they were closed. It was in fact, not closed, and it seemed to be that the workers just simply wanted an early night off. I found this unacceptable given the fact that every time I come to this mcDonalds I end up spending no less than 30 minutes in like even if I am the 3rd car in line. I will also note that the workers at the drive thru greet their customers with a foul attitude and almost always forget something that is ordered. This is a campus McDonalds with very hungry college students after long study sessions, and I expected more from the Auburn family and my favorite restaurant. I will avoid this restaurant for the remainder of my time in Auburn and would really appreciate seeing officials finally cease to overlook these workers inappropriate attitude and acknowledge the absurd work ethic of the people they poorly choose to hire. read more
