Needs updating inside. The Scottish cashmere is quality but any other product they sell seems to be lower quality and high priced. I saw a ladies belt with a price tag of $75, I bought the exact same belt on Amazon for $6. Not cool. Makes me not trust their inventory. read more

Snobby staff. They can keep their overpriced merchandise. No one wants to be followed around and treated as though they're going to steal clothing right off the rack. In stores that I frequent, the sales clerks generally welcome customers to their place of business and offer to assist them. If you're looking for that kind of service, avoid McCulley's. read more

Hey, It's funny that I stumbled onto this. We were in Highlands 3 Years ago and stayed at the Old Edwards Inn. My wife and I decided to explore the shopping district on our first day in town. Mcculleys was one of the first stores we visited that day as we walked down the hill from our room. Not only did the sales lady make my wife and I uncomfortable ( made both of us feel as though we were being judged and suspected of being a thieves) but she also made comments about another customers hair , her "dreadlocks". She said ,she ( the customer) was not the type of person who should be shopping in the store. I decided to engage the old bitty a little more and told her my store of choice was BJs. I do like BJs but I also have been known to shop for my wife at Harry Winston's place when I visit my staff in LA. To say the least, she, the old lady, was not impressed with me to say the least. Bottom line, I was offended by her . Never forgot her and made a commitment, that day ,that I would never return to the outdated, out of touch, bastion of excess that ended up being the defining characteristic of the town of Highlands. Dinner that night at a place called the "Log Cabin "just cemented these sentiments. Just thought the owner, Mary, should know what a powerful impact her employee made on me. In this year of so much unrest and tragedy I remarkably go back and remember my chance encounter with this woman (3 years ago) To bad there are still people in this world who are so unenlightened and so small. OMG. I could have written that other review. I absolutely agree with everything Audra K. from Stockbridge said from the obscenely priced clothing to the most annoying sales people I have ever encountered in my life! Do you really think I am going to shoplift a coat by shoving it into my tiny purse? Or what? Hang it up improperly? What is it that you are there to do???? If I can afford Old Edwards, I should be allowed to shop in peace at your store. How am I supposed to shop when someone is staring daggers at me from 3 feet away? And then you stand there and watch me struggle and struggle to get a coat off of the hanger unbuttoning all these buttons and interior buttons and then hang it back up? Isn't that your job? Isn't it your job to take the damn item off the hanger and hand it to me? And take it and hang it back up? If you want to be right on top of me - isn't that your job??? Or is it your job to intimidate me so that I just say, screw it and walk out of the store???? You want me to spend $1,500-$2000 for a coat, hundreds of dollars on a sweater -where is my champagne? Where is my ass kissing? Like Julia Roberts and Richard Gere???? I can afford the merchandise, and while it is very nice and the ONLY reason I gave this place 2 stars, it is not THAT nice. You're not Neimans or Nordstroms or even Bloomingdales. Everything is way overpriced. Maybe some of the women who visit Highlands enjoy having someone hanging all over them, but I HATE IT!!! I hate being stared at from just a few feet away. Being stared at from 15' away would be bad enough but but you're right there. Right on top of me. Three feet away. So what is your job? If it's not to take the clothing off the hanger and hand it to me? And help me into a coat? And maybe hand me a hand mirror so I can see it from the back? And hang it back up so I don't have to be bothered since I'm spending so much money on a jacket. What is the point of you? To make people feel so uncomfortable that they want to run out the door not buy anything? Because you've got that down pat. But from what I've experienced, that really isn't the point of a good sales person. You really should rethink your business practices because I think you would sell a lot more if you would just leave the customer alone. Or at least ask if I would like to be helped or browse on my own, then back off. Maybe if you didn't stay there and try to intimidate the hell out of the customers, you would actually have more customers and actually sell more items and maybe instead of having to mark everything up so much in order to stay in business, you might have more people come in and make larger purchases due to lower prices and being allowed to browse on their own without being stared at like a hawk eyeing their prey. read more

I love Mc'Culley's...or should I say their cashmere, but these people have zero idea about customer service. First of all their products are so obscenely priced (even for cashmere), but do not presume that I cannot afford your overpriced merchandise. We were followed around the store as if we were going to lift one of their $1200 sweaters. And when I did decide to purchase a $15 sale hat nobody really felt the need to take my money. After waiting for a solid five plus minutes to be acknowledged at the cash register (mind you there was maybe one other person in the store browsing and at least four sales people) we were then told that sales items had to be paid for with either cash or check. Thank goodness I actually had cash with me because I do so frequently carry cash when out shopping (NOT). I wonder if I had bought six sale items that totaled around $1000 if I would have been expected to pay with cash or a check. Definitely visit Mc'Culley's if you go to the Highlands but don't give them your money! read more

McCulley's in Highlands was one of the best experiences I have had in a fine Cashmere Shop anywhere. The selection of styles and COLORS are matched by none! The store is filled with any possible choice and the service was 5 star. I had no trouble being waited on and even with the place being full of customers, the atmosphere was warm, friendly and they still were focused on what I needed at any given moment. Oh I'll be visiting McCulley's again very soon as this is what fine shopping is all about. read more

I was very surprised to read the review of McCulley's Cashmere posted by Audra K. I have been a loyal customer since first discovering this wonderful shop (5 years ago) and have always been treated respectfully and not pressured by their well informed sales staff. So I guess Audra's comments about 'customer service' do not match my own experiences. Also, if you found a $15 cashmere hat - hat's off to you - what a great deal! The only item in the store that I've seen anywhere near $1200 was actually a coat - most of their basic sweaters run around $200'ish. I am an avid collecter of fine cashmere and have never seen such a big selection of scottish cashmere in one great location. I shop the sales here too and mybe she needs to put on some glasses and read the sales signs (cash or check only) for sale merchandise. read more

Beautiful merchandise, but few items in my very standard men's size. I buy my clothing in London, New York, and elsewhere but the prices here were exorbitant. Most of all, I was disappointed by the sales person being alternately indifferent and extremely rude. I was chided for touching a sweater. As I said to her, I'm not going to consider buying anything, especially expensive cashmere, without touching it. read more

I was on my Yelp account, and decided to check out some of the reviews. I checked on some of the stores I shop in, and noticed that McCulley's got a not so good review. I have gone in their many times, and the staff has all ways been nice too me. I do hope that you check them out, and give them a chance. I do no by talking to the owner, that she orders her Cashmere directly from the manufacturer in Scotland. She informed me, that she has one of the largest selection in the USA.I have bought elsewhere, and have had some problems. I have bought here, and so far after many years, I haven't had any problems, and when I see Mary, she asks me how I am liking my sweaters, and how did my family and friends like theirs? I told her I have been back to see you every year. To some, she may be over priced, but you pay for what you get. Quality....by the way, I haven't ever seen a $1200 Cashmere in there. But hey, if she has one at that price, it has too be a coat. Possibly Fur? She does carry Fur coats.... read more

The only reason I give them 2 stars is because of the quality of their sweaters. Otherwise, they will take a look at you and judge weather or not your gonna spend money. I was dressed casual, but looking to buy 5 sweaters (little did they know) as gifts for my family. I am 28 years old. and apparently 28 year olds dont have money....? And yes, I know how much they cost. Not one other shopper in the store, no one offered to help me at all, when I asked if they had a certain sweater in stock the lady completely blew me off. I am appalled at the level or lack of customer service. I feel as all people should be treated equally, you never know who the young guy is, he might have a pocket full of cash looking to spend 5k on sweaters.. If they don't think their clientele will die off and the next generation ,who you currently treat poorly will just put up with this, they have a rude awakening. No i am not a trust fund baby, money made honestly with a good idea and hard work. I ended up walking out of the store. I'd rather give my money to good people. read more
