McAllen doggypark. Tamarack and 3rd st.

Great to have a dog park in McAllen. Well thought out and very secure. Bathroom and water fountains for humans. Small and large dogs are in separate areas. Cut off is 25 pounds. The bad Not scenic at all. Grass I pretty dead just leaving dirt. No small ramps or tires or anything else for the dogs to play on. Just a large fenced area so bring balls and toys to interact with dogs. Shade is also hard to come by so sun screen is a must.

I want more people to come here so my dogs aren't lonely. They are small dogs and a lot of people bring there medium dogs in the small section. Soon this place will have lots of good grass and plenty of dogs so that everyone can play.

There's no place in McAllen where I feel so relaxed ! I am an animal lover and to be surrounded by so many cute dogs and other animal lovers is amazing . The park is very clean and offers free potty bags for ur fur babies . The space is very vast , and there's an area for small and big dogs . My dogs are very happy every time we visit and won't stop running and playing with other doggies . In the summer it does get hot , so I reccomend visiting after 5 pm . I love it ! And my babies too

My family took our dog to the dog park. It was a very friendly environment and the dogs all got along well. It's nice to meet other dog owners. It must be very freeing for the dogs to run around without a leash which I think is cool. I'm hoping the rest of the valley invests in these types of parks to give us other choices.

Love coming here with my Milo. Great time getting to know other dog lovers! They provide different spaces for big and small dogs.

Snow enjoying the water puddles after a rain storm.

I'm so glad there is at least one dog park in McAllen. My dogs are runners and it's a great big gated space for them.

The World Birding Center portion has it's own parking lot and there is a modest fee to enter. The walking trail around the pond is free. You can park at the municipal park and use the trails around the pond and/or the multiple trails that go through the park. Both places are well developed and beautifully designed. The trail around the pond in the Scenic Wetlands area has some beautiful views. There are many native plants such as mesquite, palo verde, Nepal, and other cacti for which I don't know the names. The morning I went to walk, I was admiring the nopal which was blooming profusely, as well as the ducks, herons, and other birds enjoying the water. The walking trail is pleasant, "paved" with a gravel type material, much is shaded by trees which have branches arching over the trail (that is a big plus if you go in the daytime). I didn't see a sign to indicate the length of the trail that goes around the pond, but it took only about 20 minutes to circle it. It took me longer because I kept stopping to take pictures. Once I circled the pond, I went through a portion of the municipal park where there are also some ponds, trees, playgrounds, picnic areas, ball fields, restrooms, etc. My wife and I used to take our children (when they were small) along with a loaf of bread to feed the ducks in the largest of the ponds at the park. I have not gone into the World Birding Center portion, but intend to do so in the near future.

This is the second time that I have come from out of town and tried to visit and they had a…read more"private event" so the entire place was closed, but it wasn't posted on their website nor did they answer the phone so that you could check.
