I was charged $50 for alleged "damaged" linen, but the stain shown to me was from red soda -- something that can be removed. The photo they provided did not show permanent damage, yet I was still charged. To make matters worse, the pool was shut off early while I was still in it, and chlorine got into my eyes, causing irritation and discomfort. That situation was handled very poorly and felt unsafe. I expected better customer service and fairness. Unfortunately, this stay did not meet basic standards. I would not recommend staying here based on how this situation was handled

Due to continued rain events, we were unable to repair the badly damaged roof until early June. Per the recommendations of our trusted contractor, we opted to move out of the remaining part of the house during the demolition and reconstruction phase. Our insurer was very helpful in finding a place nearby where we could stay during the reconstruction with facilities that would minimize the discomfort of long-term living in much smaller quarters. They set us up in the Home2 Suites by Hilton in a nice part of Shreveport. Everyone at the hotel is very familiar with folks having relatively long stays (the General Manager, Hannah, told us of a couple who had been with them for a YEAR!), but they treated us as though we were the most important guests they had ever met. Hannah and Shontel showed us the available accommodations that could meet our needs. We spent the first few nights in a "Queen Studio" that was nicely appointed, with two queen beds, nice bath and a small kitchen area with plates, cups, glasses, flatware, refrigerator, microwave, sink and automatic dishwasher that made it a little more like home (special heating devices for cooking using their cookware was available, although we never used them). Our insurer was kind enough to provide for an upgrade to a "King Suite," which has a separate bedroom with a king-size bed and large TV that could be closed off from the seating area (which featured another large TV), a very spacious bathroom, and the same kitchen essentials as the Queen Studio and a table with 3 chairs, and another, very comfortable chair that slides up under a wheeled table that can easily be moved around. We ended up staying 62 nights. The part that made it better than expected was the way we were treated by virtually everyone working there. I apologize for not getting everyone's name, but all of them showed the same concern, commitment, and care towards us. All the desk clerks (Shontel, Liberty, Ariel, Leanna - I hope I didn't leave anyone out!) went the extra mile for every request we had. Shaquail worked nights but was first to say good morning to me at breakfast, and Toya was right there making sure the food was prepared and plentiful every morning. So many others (like the maintenance guys whose names I didn't write down) and Brittany, who ran housekeeping, were anxious to make our stay with them as pleasant as they could. Other guys (like Charles and Marlin) who handled everything else were always ready to take care of any needs we had. Many more folks cleaned rooms, washed towels and linens, and provided other essential needs. After 9 weeks, we were EAGER to get back to our home, but it was obvious that everyone who works at the Home2 Suites had our comfort and needs at the top of their minds. The hotel also has room service available. Valet parking is $20 which is a pretty decent rate The pool on the roof is a nice space to relax while you're visiting. The housekeeping staff was super friendly The shower had amazing pressure The meh: If you're here for a convention and wanting to self park, maybe reconsider. I had to during my trip as it took forever to move through the garage because the lot is small and the hall is not so there is a huge traffic disruption. The pool needs a bar or a snack area. There is nothing food related on the top floor and there should be to keep people there longer. There was an event going on in the bar at the lobby causing huge disruption one night. Making me take my food to go; i wasn't forced to but it was so loud and overwhelming i needed to. The only bad thing was the bathroom itself. It was pretty dated and the toilet had seen better days. There was some yellowing at the base of the toilet which was not great. Overall this is a solid hotel. I'm not sure when I'd be back in the area but I'd have no issue staying here if i did.
