Do your research before you go to a spa in Cabo. Generally speaking, most spa's near Cabo Wabo or the marina areas are not safe/family-friendly.
What was awesome about the open-air beach massages, was you were with others and nothing was going to happen--no wallets missing, wandering off during the massage, or offers of happy endings. The massage places that offer special services tend to be horrible at giving massages as that is not where the money is for them. So take that off the table (pun intended) and find yourself a good, safe and respectable place to relax and heal.
The Mayu spa team was a former beach massage location that had to move to a building because of the pandemic.
This spa doesn't have doors and while that sounds creepy--the semi-transparent material they have to give you enough privacy keeps it from being a creepy experience.
I went twice. The first time I ended up with Sunny and the second time I asked for Sunny. She speaks very little English. She was very professional and kept her mask on at all times too. She was able to recognize areas like my forearms and hands that needed extra attention without communicating it to her. I had the 90 minutes massage for 50 dollars and it was amazing. It never felt rushed.
Lucky tip: Ask for Sunny. Have a great massage and then go to Lupita's around the corner for the best tacos in Cabo.
I could do without the aromatics at the beginning and end of the massage but I get that is part of the experience. They all seem to do it. They all seem to yell out to catch your attention as you walk by. I did a fair amount of research to find this place. I even asked my taxi driver both times (two different people) and they both said this was a good place with good people. If you go -- help them with a review. Someone gave them a bad review because they moved from the beach to a physical location and had to raise their prices like everyone else (Funny I don't see how someone can complain about a 25 or 50 dollar massage.). Their prices are very standard for Cabo.
It's an old business in a new location--give it a try. read more
