I was recommended to come here by a friend. I called in advance, she said no appointment was necessary, just come in. Sadly I must say it was not a great experience. I went alone, so had to have obvious assistance lacing up the back of my dress. Once this was done, the back wasn't fitting right and there was a huge gap between the piece underneath the corset lacing. She said that she would have to replace that piece because it is not long enough and it would be $90, but she does not have the same type of material, just 'white.' Well, my dress was ivory and also very lacy and I tried to explain that to her. She said that I could try to go to a fabric store and find the material. So basically, I was being told I can pay all this money for a new piece that isn't going to match my dress. Great. Then I started asking questions about the hemming that needed to be done. She made it very clear that the end design will be gone, but it was not certain how much she was going to hem or what this would look like, but she looked at the layers and said it would be $160. Another guest came in and she assisted them with picking up an item while I stood there and tried to figure out what was going on. Something just didn't seem right. I did not even remotely have this problem when I bought the dress and tried it on, so was having a hard time believing my body had changed that much and was starting to feel very fat. I tried to see in the mirror as much as I could how it was not fitting. The guest left and I decided there was no way I was leaving my dress in her hands, having almost no idea what she was going to do to it. I said I'll have to think about that back piece since it will not match. She unlaced me and I changed. Here is where the story gets really interesting. I then went to a lady I had gone to once before for alterations and she actually laced my dress up CORRECTLY and that back piece fit just fine, and it turns out I don't need any hemming. She took her time with it and readjusted it and measured from my bust up to my neck to make sure it was sitting at the right length. What a relief. I would say there was a definite language barrier with this place, and that may have been part of the problem, however obviously not all of it. I did not feel comfortable leaving my dress here not knowing what was going to happen to it. I'm not sure if this lady just does not know how to lace up a wedding dress or if she was trying to pull a fast one on me. Hopefully the first hypothesis because the later sounds far worse. Proceed with caution, yelpers. She would have ruined my dress if I had left it with her. read more
