Spontaneously Satisfying we were on our way to Tupelo honey when we spotted Mayfel's. we decided to try something new best decision made that day. The food was amazing. The beignets were underwhelming, but our main dish choices were absolutely scrumptious.

I saw this restaurant on TikTok and was so excited to try but ultimately was very disappointed. When I think of LA food I think of the big punches of flavor, and spices and the food was everything but that. There are not a lot of vegetarian options so please be aware that you are going to pay $5 for a tiny side of grits and red beans and rice. My drink was made incorrectly and even when sent back it was still made unlike the menu described. The smothered biscuit gravy was very thick and tasty like colored flour and for $13 it need to have the flavor as described in the menu. All in all if you are used to overpriced unflavored food you would love the spot.

We had a party of 7 at 10:30 am on Monday, July 5, 2021. There was a 45 minute wait, but it ended up being only 40 minutes. It's very vegetarian-friendly! Yarah was our waitress and she was great! Even though she had so many tables (both inside and outside), she got everything out to us in a timely manner. Here's what we got: - French Market Beignets ($1 each): Wowow. Nothing rivals Café du Monde, but these are really good. - Fried Chicken Biscuit ($15): We got it with the milk gravy. I really liked that they had that as an option. The biscuit and chicken were delicious. - Asheville Scramble ($14): Good portion. Could've used some sauce or something. It was pretty dry. But it's cool because you can get it with eggs or tofu. - Smoked Salmon Benedict ($15): The salmon was good, but the English muffin was very thin and hard. - Veggie Omelet ($13): Didn't seem as big of a portion, but maybe that's because my mom ordered just egg whites. Everything came with a side. We got home fries, sweet potato waffle fries, parmesan grits, and fruit. All were amazing. My favorite were the sweet potato waffle fries though. Overall, we recommend Mayfel's! Good food and good prices.

I'm a self-proclaimed "halfback" from FL and a God-proclaimed "mutt" from everywhere in the US and my heart & liver are in New Orleans. Since moving here 2 months ago, no place has made me feel more welcome than here. Service was perfect, food (best crawfish etouffee I've ever had-- and I've been to Jaquemo's, Luke's & Drago's) was amazing and the first proper (or any) Sazerac(s) I've had in NC. I can't wait to return and bring anyone who also loves New Orleans. *heart hands* Lisa & Scott. I appreciate ya both.

I was pretty disappointed with Mayfel's tbh. The food tasted okay, but the portion sizes were really small. We did carry out because the outdoor patio was completely closed off, which kinda defeats the point of having outdoor seating during a pandemic. So maybe portion sizes were smaller because we did carry out? Either way, it definitely felt like I got 10$ worth of food because my boyfriend and I were starving after our shrimp & grits and seafood etouffee. We got second dinner elsewhere after haha. The shrimp and grits was a slightly larger portion, and I enjoyed the blue cheese flavor. Still didn't feel worth the money though. And the etouffee was just tragic. Barely any rice and maybe a half cup of etouffee? Kinda ridiculous for the cost. Mayfel's is overrated. Save your coin and check out rocky's, biscuit head, or bouchon!

Parmesan Grits, bacon and asparagus side plate-mixed by me of course

First time here and I didn't want to carry a to go box so I opted for the side combo with bacon, asparagus and parm grits. It was the right amount of food for me and those grits were a creamy and luscious savory treat! Could have eaten more grits for sure!! Good enough to be tempted to try an actual entrée but if it ain't broke there is nothing to fix!! Ty!

Visiting from CO and this restaurant had great reviews so we decided to try it. Great decision- food was fantastic! The beignets were amazing- soft and soo good. The Asheville scramble was very flavorful- a little salty for my taste but this seems to be just how food is in Asheville. The fried chicken biscuit was very good- the chicken was moist and cooked to perfection! The parmesan grits were sooo good. Overall very good experience. Service was great, food was good, and it had a fun ambiance. I recommend Mayfels!

New Orleans style restaurant with a lot of variety. They have two dog friendly outdoor dining areas for your four legged children. Good food, good service, good atmosphere. Definitely recommend.

This is a must try! I went on a Saturday with my family (5 total) and we all had high praises. We tried the (in order of best dishes): Fried Green Tomatoes: dare I say the best I've had? Fried Chicken and Biscuits with peppered gravy, side of mac and cheese, and two poached eggs Biscuits and gravy with a side of mac and cheese: the mac and cheese side is a MUST N.C. Crab Cakes Scallops and grits: they were delicious but a little too salty for our taste Steak and eggs: do not recommend. The steak was very tough. I knocked off a star from an otherwise 5-star place because the service was rather slow. The restaurant was busy (1.5hr wait) but with limited seating due to COVID, we weren't expecting service to be so slow. Water was requested multiple times & we tried to get the wait staff's attention for a steak knife. The butter knife my dad was given could NOT cut through the tough steak. We were almost halfway done with our entrees before the hostess brought us a steak knife for my dad's steak and eggs. His food was pretty cold before he got to eat his first bite of steak. I still would come back to this place and have already recommended it to many of my friends!

My husband I and I have been going to this amazing place to eat for the last two years. We were discussing this Sunday how we are never disappointed by the food. I rarely order anything new from a menu when I find what I like. I explore something new each time, and without fail it's amazing. Scott was our server this brunch and we were gushing how much we enjoy the consistency with the wait staff, and the quality of their food. Not only was he the server, but also the general manager. His amazing attitude and outlook just talking about the industry lets me know how much they appreciate what they are doing as a business and as a team to bring the best possible experience to their guest. We look forward to our next trip soon.

Fried Chicken and Biscuit w/ Mac and cheese

First time here at Mayfels... I'm from NYC so to try food in a different state was very exciting for me. We were able to walk in with no reservations even on a busy Sunday afternoon, I had the crab cake fritters to start which were pretty good full of crab meat and a wonderful sauce to top it. The fried chicken with biscuit is a must. The chicken was well seasoned and full of flavor as well as the gravy on top, the biscuits were moist and not dry at all, the Mac needed alil more cheese and a hint of salt but still ok. The shrimp and grits was also flavorful. Service was quick and pleasant and I'd definitely go back

One of my favorite places we ate on our trip. The brunch was delicious with lots of options and unique touches to the dishes! We ordered the fried green tomatoes and the beignet to start. The tomatoes were amazing with crumbled goat cheese and a tasty red pepper sauce. The beignet was fluffy and so sweet! I ordered the breakfast sandwich with home fries. They brought out fries on accident, but quickly fixed the mistake and brought what I ordered. The sandwich was huge and loaded with arugula and cheeses. My boyfriend got the fried chicken sandwich and it was crispy and covered in gravy. We both really enjoyed! The patio is small but cute. Inside was very eclectic and unique for the area! The servers were super kind as well.

Easy Chill Breakfast spot with amazing filling food. The I closed patio is dog friendly and kept warm in the winter. We had the fried chicken and biscuits and the egg sandwich with corn break and fried okra for sides. Everything was amazing.

Despite the wait, we decided to indulge in breakfast, and the experience was well worth it. My wife opted for two eggs and sides, while i chose two eggs with fried bologna and pulled pork, both of which met expectations admirably. The standout feature was their in-house jam and spreads: a distinctly sour cherry and a perfectly balanced strawberry variety, neither overly sweet but perfectly suited to complement the biscuits.
