I told her I would like to get a quote on carpet and set up to have measurements done. She huffed and walked away. I stood, confused about what I had done to offend her. Apparently she went to go get a coworker because she didn't know how to do that. The coworker (without addressing me) told the drab woman to just put me on Friday at 10:30. Drab woman took my name and basic information, wrote them on a piece of paper and wrote my last name on a whiteboard that they had posted on the wall. Friday at 10:30. No one asked me if that would work for my schedule. Luckily, I had cleared the day to be able to get quotes so I didn't say anything. She thanked me and looked at me like I was supposed to leave. I asked if I could look at carpet samples and get a few prices so I can get an idea of what I'm looking out for the project. She made a face and walked me over to a different counter and said "this is what you had to choose from". She showed me 4 small carpet squares. FOUR CARPET CHOICES at a floor covering store?! She said that those were my choices unless I wanted to pay freight. I asked The price of the carpet at which point she huffed again and walked away. Again, she wasn't sure about that either. Not sure why she works there since she obviously had no clue what she was doing or had no knowledge of carpet whatsoever. Maybe she was holding the chairs down that day. Anyways, she returned after speaking to the other coworker and told me it was $15.01 a square-foot. I told her that seemed high and she squished her face and said "new floors are expensive " at which point I thanked her and walked out. While I was leaving I looped around the store just to make sure I wasn't missing anything. There was ONE other customer in the store. One employee in the back sitting at a computer and the employee that she kept going to for help that was now out front talking to a friend. Terrible horrible experience. Would never go back.

Our bathroom was in desperate need of a remodel after my dad and grandfather built it in the late…read more1950's. We searched for contractors for a while, and the only contractor that took the time to understand our needs was Alejandro. He even brought in an interior designer friend to discuss the changes so everything came out perfect. His bid covered nearly all of the bases right off the bat, and his pricing was more than fair especially after we discovered severe dry rot and water damage from the broken tile in the bath tub. When he tore into the wall you wouldn't believe the amount of damage to the subfloor and the amount of mold that we had. He got it cleaned out, replaced the bad lumber, and was able to completely eliminate the mold that had been plaguing our family for decades! Alejandro was always respectful of our needs throughout the process, and he brought in some amazing people to help with the job. He treated us like family the whole time, and he was always willing to answer questions and explain the process as he went. Once our bathroom was finished, it looked like one of those you'd see in a photo shoot to advertise bath products. On top of that our new shower is safe for my elderly mom to use now. We still have a lot more work to finish around the house, and I look forward to hiring Alex again in the near future to get our home fixed up the way it deserves.

Go ahead, call five contractors. How many answer their phone? How many even respond? You probably already know how many. 1? 2, maybe? This project was a little annoying because I needed it done immediately. Also, it involved working in conjunction with a separate contractor that was working in the home. I was worried that it'd be hard to find a contractor to complete in time. I felt bad having such an immediate need but I wanted to call Billy first. Billy answered, with tools in his hands, mid job. I explained what I needed. He asked the right questions. We setup a time to meet and like clockwork, he showed up on time. Always friendly. Always informative. Bam! Work scheduled. I left Billy the lockbox code and he estimated his finishing time. I called him around that time to coordinate getting him paid. And, of course, the work was already completed. Not only was the work completed sooner than expected which allowed the entire project to progress faster than expected, but it was done perfectly. Which is a word I rarely use. But from the precision of the work, the cleanliness of the work, coordination with other contractors, quality of products he used...and yes, the value of everything involved...perfect! I'm not sure if I'll ever need contracting services in the Yuba/Sutter area again. But if I do, I'm only making one call. The same call you should make.
