I went here on May 3rd after struggling with symptoms for several months and not finding much…read morerelief elsewhere. The process was definitely different from a regular doctor visit, but honestly, it was a really interesting experience. Since the practitioner doesn't speak English, I translated my symptoms into Chinese using Google Translate and showed him my phone. He checked my tongue and pulse very carefully before writing out a custom herbal tea prescription entirely in Chinese characters. You then take the prescription to the front counter where they prepare the herbs into 5 separate bags. Each bag lasts 2 days, and you boil the herbs for about an hour, strain the tea, and save the rest for the next day. I'm not going to lie -- the tea tastes STRONG. Very earthy, bitter, and honestly like dirt lol. Each boiled tea bag yields 24-32 oz. that needs to be consumed warm, preferably in one sitting after lunch. It was hard to drink, but after finishing my first cycle (10days) I noticed a huge improvement in my symptoms. They explained that most people do 2-3 cycles using the same prescription for full results. I genuinely feel a lot better. I paid $20 for consultation + $85 for the tea. If you use the prescription and 2nd time you only pay for the tea of $85. They take credit cards but there is a $6 transaction fee.

The doctor has that classic, knowledgeable presence, and you can tell there's a lot of experience behind what they do. It's a family-run business, and everyone we interacted with was incredibly kind, patient, and insightful. I really love seeing Asian-owned businesses like this getting more attention and support. The space itself has a cozy, nostalgic feel and honestly gave me Spirited Away vibes in the best way. Overall, it felt welcoming, thoughtful, and rooted in tradition.

It started off great, but when you call and email back and get no response, it's time to move on and find another caterer. Pretty surprising from the Kitchen for Exploring Foods, since I always thought there were very good. But the women who coordinates everything is very unprofessional to not return phone calls.

EXCEPTIONAL. The best part is, the food is so good. Chef Tim is super kind. Not to mention good at his job. He took me into the kitchen and I was in mini heaven. The spring rolls, salmon skewers with pesto sauce, mushroom dumplings, meatloaf with tomato sauce, open faced chicken wontons and roasted chicken were terrific. Filled me up real good. I loved the chicken. So bad. I quietly went back to my post, and contemplated on how to get my hands on more of that chicken. So about 30 minutes after, as the caterers started to pack up, I crept back into the kitchen and asked him bashfully if I could take some more of his roasted chicken home, and he filled up a box for me! My god they taste soooo goood. And the desserts... The strawberry milk shortcake, and the raspberry custard pastries were the highlight. The brownies were also great. Oh, everything was amazing. I know I share my opinion with many of the guests, because so many of them went home with smiles and boxes of food and desserts. There was a guy who filled 4 separate boxes with different things. One was brownies, one was strawberry shortcakes, and I dont recall what he had in the other two boxes. So I locked up, and went home grinning from ear to ear, glancing down at my spoils of war, even though there was no war. Tomorrow will be a good day for me, thanks to Chef Tim of Kitchen For Exploring Foods. The staff was friendly and energetic. And very helpful. The Yelp reviews are real, people! They're awesome! The flowers they provided were fresh and beautiful. The white hydrangeas were breathtaking. When I'm getting married, this will definitely be my caterer. Hands down!

This old-world health food stand is located inside the Grand Central Market just inside the Hill St…read moreentrance. They have rows and rows of jars filled with herbs, teas and spices along with herbal remedies and vitamins all at reasonable prices. I love this concept and I love the fact that it's still in operation. I've come here for dried milk thistle, whole flax seeds, chamomile flowers, dried mint, star anise, and a "cold & flu" tea that made me gag at first but felt nice after I got used to the overwhelming taste. So far, I've been satisfied with all of my purchases. My main concern about this place is that I have no way of knowing how long these items have been in the jars and if they come from a reputable source. I also wish that the people who work here were more knowledgeable. They couldn't answer any of my simple questions about their inventory. You're basically on your own and have to tell them what you want and they'll get it for you.

My "back-up" has been the Jones Grain Mill (in the Grand Central Market). They don't cover the entire range of herbs, but have a reasonable selection, and good prices, and are courteous. And this place is fairly convenient--just a fifteen minute bus or train ride from the Convention Center area. This sure beats the hassle and high prices of herbs in capsules...for the birds!!! Oops!!! Now that Management has opted to go seriously "upscale" (and kick half of the vendors out), Grand Central Market is but a shadow of its former self....and just about EVERYONE I paronized--including the Jones Grain Mill--is no longer there. As far as I'm concerned, this has been a terrible sell-out, and I don't plan to spend any money there in the future. Pleasd join me in BOYCOTTING this crazy place...that used to be JUST DOWNRIGHT TERRIFIC!!
