Parker's Heating and Air Conditioning

Parker's Heating and Air Conditioning

My experience with Parker's was a bit of a rollercoaster ride that initially left me with a very…read morebad opinion leading to a rage fueled one star review. Did they do a perfect job the first, second or third time? No. Did I really need to spend $2300 on a new coil? We'll never know for sure because that didn't fix the problem but it did expose a different problem. However, there was a third problem that was completely overlooked. After 4 weeks my AC quit cooling and I flipped out. I left a damning 1 star review laying out every interaction in detail and expressing extreme dissatisfaction with the company and the technicians. ( I have removed that review now) My rage was not entirely due to the lack of AC and the $2300 I had paid to get it fixed, but was a culmination of misfortune, tragedy and loss with no emotional outlet. The broken AC was just the last straw. I waited a day to calm down before I called Parker's again. I expressed my frustration and dissatisfaction as calmly as possible. I'm good at restraint until it's contested. I thought it went well. The manager called me and was humble and kind and assured me that it would be fixed. He understood my frustration. I was out of town at the time so we scheduled the appointment for two days later. I returned home the night before to a sweltering house with a flooded hallway where the inside unit is. Needless to say, I was not happy. So... I started taking things apart. What I found made me feel like a jackass. The work Parkers had done was not the problem. The AC worked fine for almost 4 weeks but suddenly faded and couldn't keep the house cooled below 84 during the day. It would run and run then shut off without cooling. I took the cover off the inside unit and the problem was obvious. The inner coils that cool the air as it passes through were completely caked with dust and dog hair. The filter had sucked up into them and completely blocked any chance at cooling the air. The drain was also backed up, causing the flooding and triggering a shut down sensor. (I did not know about the sensor until the tech told me) credit due. I cleaned the coils with a soft brush and a shop vac. I hit the drain from the outside with the shop vac and removed the clog. The AC came back on and immediately cooled the house to 74 degrees. This is the moment I knew I messed up. My theory that the freon had once again leaked out and the tech had done a bad job, was wrong. The tech had done a good job and I had lashed out unjustly. I'm sorry, I was wrong. The next morning, very early, 2 Parker's vans pulled into my drive and found the AC working perfectly. I explained what I had found and done. They gave the entire system a good inspection, sprayed some cleaner on my coils and even came back after hours to drop off a couple of filters. Above and beyond. That's still not what changed my opinion, though appreciated. They talked to me, they explained everything to me and were very apologetic that they had missed the inside issue. They convinced me that they genuinely cared and were in no way trying top take advantage of me. I was convinced that the tech genuinely believed that my coil was leaking and needed to be replaced. Maybe not every tech or employee cares about the customer beyond the service but I believe at the heart of the company they care about each other as well as their customers. Something I'm not used. When I see a business that has employees that have been with them for 20 years +, I generally assume that they treat them well and don't take them for granted. Something you don't see at a lot of places these days. I've been through a lot the last year and it's far from over. I don't expect anyone to care, especially the guy working on my AC but I think Parker's does. It wouldn't surprise me if somebody at Parker's prayed for me. That's what changed my mind and why I will call them again. I apologize for my previous undeserved criticism, I was wrong.
