The parking lot is always full of cars so I finally stopped in. At 6:20 am on a Saturday just after opening the lot had many cars in it, I thought this place must be great. When I entered I looked around and thought what a dumpy looking place. The place was full of older people and a lot of them. The woman that was serving me was working the room like a boss, she was a pro. My menu and water came quick. The menu is typical greek breakfast food. I ordered the two eggs with sausage and ham. The food came quick, see my pictures. The two eggs were perfect sunny side up. The hash browns were hard, dry and horrible. The sausage links were juicy and very mild, not that great. The ham was off the bone and good. The toast was nice sourdough, thank you. As a bonus you get a moist cinnamon piece of Coffey cake on the toast. $9.98 was the total. Over all this is not my favorite breakfast place and I love breakfast. I don't see why the lot is always full because this was very average but the service was excellent. That woman with the pony tail was the best server in action working the room. read more

Solid dependable food and excellent service. Most of us had fish of some type; mine was pan fried perch with it's delicate flavor not obscured by breading just a light dusting of flour before hitting the pan. It was great to be offered a salad which was fresh and many options for dressing including French with blue cheese crumbles. The place is huge and usually full. The menu is reduced from the book it was but still has two pages of options and two more of breakfast items which are served all day. The dessert case is a delight but I had no room left this time. read more

Had turkey dinner to go. It was moist and delicious. Sides of mashed potatoes and stuffing were wonderful. I would get it again!

Love the food here, the service is excellent and fast, the hosts/hostesses are always super friendly, we never have any issues and went here frequently prior to the pandemic. Why the 1 star now? Unfortunately safety guidelines are not put in place and very clearly stated on the door that masks are not required. This is the first time I've seen this anywhere while at an indoor establishment in the last few months. It's one thing for the rest of the patrons to not wear masks but for the staff too, it was too much for me knowing someone with the virus could be cooking and serving my food. Maxims is family owned and you can feel the love from the moment you walk. From the loving quotes on the walls to the smiling faces of their large staff Maxims has a whole lot of love for their guests. We happened to be served by Jone (Joane) and she is the sweetest and most caring woman. She had amazing recommendations from food to where to visit in town. I'm not going to recommend any one food item. It is all honestly delicious and comes out quickly. We had their breakfasts, mainly omelettes, and they came out quickly and were absolutely delicious. One thing Jone (Joane) also recompensed was taking home their complimentary 'bread' as it makes delicious french toast or garlic bread. They also offer some strong Bloody Mary's with a lovely beer chaser if you want and nice morning buzz. It had been a while since we ate here bc we moved. We met family members there for breakfast as it was convenient. All 4 of us did not like the food, which was not our previous experience. The corned beef hash tasted old & had an unusual flavor. My husband's eggs were not cooked over medium - whites were undercooked &!runny. Our son had a side of bacon & it was also undercooked. The Canadian bacon on the eggs Benedict tasted like it had been cooked w sausage. Pancakes were average. The meals with non-alcoholic drinks for 4 cost us $60. Absolutely not worth it! read more

Maxims was always a bit over priced for its quality. Now the quality is poor and the prices are higher. I had a Mexican omelette which had no flavor. On another visit I had a Gyro (pretty hard to mess up?) the meat was so dry it was crispy. Today I had bacon, eggs, and hash browns. The eggs were cold. So we're the hash browns. For the past 23 years I have enjoyed Maxims for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. The owner is a gem. Many of his original employees still work in the restaurant. This says so much about the quality of the management. The food is always good, and there is a very broad menu of items from American dinner, to Greek specialties, Mexican favorites, and fantastic fish fry. This place is pretty old school. It's right by where I work so we end up here pretty regularly. The decor is old school and the ambiance is the old folks home crowd but the food is solid which makes all that OK. They have a great selection for breakfast and lunch and a ton of dessert options in the front case to make your sugar spike. Excellent experience last night. Have been here multiple times in the past, but this is first time I am writing a review. Here during lent on a Friday so the place was busy, but with a party of 3 we were able to be seated immediately. Great selection of fish options that include soup/salad, potato and dessert. Raised in Brookfield - as a kid - Maxim's was my favorite restaurant to go to for dinner. But especially for dessert after a concert or other school performance. There is a reason they are still around! For me, this was the place I enjoyed my very first Cherry Turnover (which is now my favorite food/dessert - all because of Maxim's). The turnovers are the biggest I have ever seen... and you know when you're a kid, how everything seems gigantic? Well, I recently came back and they are just as big as I remembered. Plus, the pastry is flaky and there is a nice glaze on the top with sizable pieces of sugar sprinkled on top. Maxim's really has a nostalgic effect on me and is why I returned after all these years, I don't remember ordering many dinners. That could be because they serve breakfast all day. So I would say this makes it a great place to bring your kids if you need a family friendly restaurant. Breakfasts are great! But, I can't remember a dinner specific meal that I've had, but my grandpa and parents seem to really enjoy the food! If you find yourself in Brookfield, you should at least stop in and try some desserts. Aside from having the Best-Turnovers-Ever, they have a wide variety of other pastries and cakes. If you're looking for just a classic breakfast look no further. Nothing fancy here but, they do make some awesome and huge omelets, have great coffee, and always come with a yummy slice of cinnamon coffee cake with every meal. They also do have some pretty great skillets and just standard egg, bacon, toast (recommend the cinnamon raisin). I've never been disappointed with a breakfast from here, they don't do bloody Mary's or avocado toast but, like I said they just make a great traditional breakfast. read more

I absolutely love Maxim's. I grew up in Brookfield and haven't lived in the area in almost ten years, but always make a point of coming here when I'm in town to visit family. Here's what I most look forward to: - the homemade bread. Honestly, I wouldn't even describe myself as a person who loves bread, but their bread is just outrageously good. - the delicious chicken and dumpling soup - Friday fish fry - the San Fran Burger, one of my favorite burgers ever - their spectacular cake - I especially recommend the chocolate pudding cake - consistently friendly, capable service - reading the ridiculous and sometimes grammatically incorrect maxims on the wall. My favorite is "My best creation is my children," which it makes it sounds terrifyingly much like they've created a single Franken-child out of their various children. Having grown up in suburban Wisconsin, I've eaten at a lot of Greek family restaurants in my time and, to my estimation, this is the best of the best. Never change, Maxim's. read more

I can only speak about the breakfast because when I am in town on Sundays this is where we go. Apparently there are many others who think so too. The place is always packed. But don't let that keep you from coming to enjoy their mega omelets and tasty pancakes or a straight up egg and bacon plate. Whatever you choose will be more than enough and hot to your table. The service is above and beyond and they are efficient enough in this large restaurant to keep people from waiting more than a fee minutes. Maxim's is a classic casual dining family restaurant. You know the kind. The sort of place that has a HUGE menu. The sort of place that is PACKED on Sundays with freshly churched Christians. The sort of place that identifies as a Greek restaurant when there are maybe two menu items that contain Greek-like ingredients. It's the place you can bring kids. And parents. And grandparents. And great-grandparents. You can reach deep into your ancestry & everyone would still be comfortable. I saw a representative of the homo erectus species wearing a polo & some khakis going to town on a Denver Omelette. Maybe he was homo ergaster. It's always hard for me to tell. Is that bad? Maybe it's not bad that I can't tell the difference, but it is bad that I'm bringing it up. Sort of like, hey, if it's not a big deal, why talk about it? It's not a big deal. I'd just prefer to be accurate & not assume. But maybe it's that I see a need to identify him at all that is the problem. Just tell the story, dude. We don't need to know the specific species of the human ancestor that was enjoying his Sunday breakfast at Maxim's. I guess the point is, who wouldn't enjoy a Sunday breakfast at Maxim's? No one. The people watching can be great. For example: I visited for dinner with my most recent ancestors, my parents, and there was an older dude sleeping at one of the tables in the dining room. He was dining & sleeping alone. No one bothered him. You're damned right. THAT is casual dining. It's not like he was snoring or disruptive. I saw no drool. And after a while, he woke up. Maxim's knows it's all good. I think there are a lot of us who wish we could fit in a few quick naps now & again. So refreshing. If you're hung over & in Brookfield, if you're with your family or a church group, if you want daily drink specials & a gigantic menu, if you want an extremely casual dining experience, Maxim's is your place. read more

We stumbled on this place one time when we were starving and we've come back many times. Menu is huge. Desserts are WONDERFUL. Service is fast and friendly. There's a full bar that's separate from the food area. Decor is clean and pleasant. Each time we've gone there seems to be an abundance of older adults who are regulars. Appetizers are good. You get a freshly baked loaf of bread with your dinner and salad or soup. Gyros are not greasy and very tender. Greek dishes are generous and very good. You will leave with leftovers and you will make a trip back! Be sure to save room for dessert -- their cheesecake is to die for. Came here with a huge family group, and while I can't really recommend the place for anything in particular, it was convienent for a large group and we were served and attended to in a timely manner. The prices for breakfast/brunch seemed very reasonable, and the amount of food you got was definitely sufficient. Many of us shared a meal, and those who didn't were stuffed. They also brought out some tasty mini strawberry muffins ahead of time! The hot chocolates were massive and awesome looking! The service was nice and the timing very reasonable, though we were there at an odd time on a not very busy weekday. We have been going there for years, ever since it used to be a steak house and then a pizza place. The food was always excellent, but last month it took a dive. First the menu was severely cut back. I went here to celebrate my 63rd Birthday and I must say I certainly picked the best restaurant to do so. First, my Lincoln felt among good company in the parking lot. Second, my wife and I were easily the youngest couple in the place. Third, I think the waitress almost asked if I wanted to see the kids menu. I've never felt so young.If you've ever driven down the freeway on a week day and wondered if anyone worked in this town, well I can tell you all the retired people are driving to Maxim's. The joint was jumping at 1:30 pm. They had some interesting specials noted at the entrance and a good looking bakery display. I was surprised to see they had no fried chicken or broasted chicken on their regular menu. However fried chicken was on today's "specials" menu so I had that with fries and a house salad. The house salad included some radish slices and fresh mushroom slices...very welcome additions. The fries were among the best I've ever had. The coating on the "hand dipped" fried chicken was something you won't find anywhere else...I enjoyed it. My wife was busy being amused by an elderly woman a few booths away from ours who had her cell phone speaker turned up all the way and was still holding it up to her ear when her chicken dumpling soup arrived. She said the soup was good but a tad peppery and a bit too much of some undetermined herb. She had the "special" chicken schnitzel. The chicken was on the dry side and in need of a separate helping of gravy besides the gravy on the schnitzel. I would say you get your money's worth here. The waitresses should get a compliment here. I watched them with several elderly and hearing/sight impaired customers. The were welcoming, accommodating, gentle, and understanding with all of them. My wife and I dine here a few times a year. I go there mainly for the baby back ribs. They are awesome. It is hard to fine better ribs anywhere in the greater Milwaukee area. My second reason for coming here is their breakfast skillet. It, too, is fantastic. The only reason I did not give the place five stars is because of noise. The noise level is (almost) painful to someone with sensitive hearing. It was difficult for me to carry on a conversation with my wife who was seated in the adjacent chair. One visit recently were told that if we use a coupon we could not get our cards stamped. Really. This the way they appreciate seniors on a tight budget. However, when you look beyond that the food is really good and it is almost all made from scratch! It seems to always be busy, but usually not a long wait. A very good restaurant with a good value for your money. This is a regular visit for us, and I must say it is very good food. The wait staff is always very friendly and ready with water or coffee. The menu is good! Not too much or too little. We always have the three eggs any style (eggbeaters) with toast American Fries. This for a grand price of 6,99!!! Also the Friday Fish Fry is excellent.
