Definitely agree with All reviewers on atmosphere/ambiance; STILL VERY DARK/Red, which may not be an issue for color blind patrons, but could be for the rest of us. Can't comment on Any other menu selections except for the Rib Tips; which I do recommend (and get the Sauce on the side, unless you're wearing a bib). Zero tap beers, which is not good; but a decent, not Great, selection of spirits. Won't reorder their Old Fashioned; recipe is waaaaayyyy TOOOO sweet for my glass, though not a show stopper from coming back. Staff was Very attentive and 'present' without being annoying or intrusive. Overall, Not a bad joint and it's certainly caters to it's locals, which might not be well perceived by 1st timers/non-locals. read more

Holy Smokes!!! This was the best steak I've had in a while and the best steak I've had in the AV!! We got the Filet mignon and mashed potatoes. 19oz ribeye, veggies. Garlic bread. Soup(it was homemade chunky tomato.) Salad bar. Oh and bacon jalapeno Mac n cheese. My goodness!!!! The steaks were cooked perfectly medium rare. Everything was super good. The service was friendly but a little slow to bring more water and the check, they were busy tho so I won't complain. It's pretty dark and red in there, as you can tell from the pics. There was good music playing and a couple of TVs on with sports. We had just come from the movies and didn't realize how full we were so we didn't eat much there, but best believe I'm gonna tear it up when I get home. I'd definitely make the drive here from Littlerock ANYTIME for this meal. read more

This was our second visit to Maxdons. We enjoyed it the first time before Covid and finally made our way back. It was a beautiful night so we hung out on the patio in a comfy, homey setting, watching the game and listening to good music. Inside was busy but outside was super relaxed. The girl at the bar, the chunking one with the glasses brown hair is very rude and very mean, and my brother goes there all the time and has always given very good reviews. She was very rude and was yelling at me about a drink that I had no idea about that. I wanted to know about, and she screamed at me also about what alcohol I should pick when I wasn't even sure what kind they had and screamed back to me every kind they had back and made me feel very uncomfortable and I was having a very very very bad day. I will never go back there again. They clearly only care about their locals and I have just moved here with my brother recently and I ate there before and I loved it. I was very unhappy today and very unwanted.. I went to feel better. their food is delicious though. I wish I had a better experience specially living just down the street. read more

We went last night, and I got the top sirloin steak, which was delicious. The mac & cheese with bacon and jalapeños was freaking amazing and their broccoli cheddar soup was super yummy you get salad from the salad bar or you can make yourself which is always a plus and there Paloma was really good from the bar. First things first...any restaurant that doesn't have a drink menu but has a full bar means business. You better know what you like, and they can make you ANYTHING! Drinks were great. Well poured. On to the food. I had a burger with added toppings, and my wife had the top sirloin. Both ordered to medium. Burger came out great. The mac n cheese is probably the best in the AV. It came loaded with jalapeños and bacon. Bacon was fresh, not the crappy pre-cooked bits, and the portion was very generous. My wife's steak came out a touch more rare than what she likes, but it's better to be more rare than nuked to all hell. The flavor on the food was top-notch. Steak was well seasoned. . Never had a bad experience at Maxdons. It's the place I go if I want a good steak. The home made blue cheese dressing is delicious.

Is it a bar? Is it a steak house? It's both! It's a dive bar that serves good food. I would have never gone here on my own but thanks to the husband, I was treated to a decent steak dinner paired with a complimentary salad bar and soup. The location looks a little too sketchy for my liking but I was surprised at how friendly the staff and patrons are. I was given lots of attention from the host and server and was checked on frequently. I got the sirloin steak with garlic mashed potatoes and it hit the spot! Perfectly cooked and the aroma of the steak being cooked in the open next to the salad bar was very appetizing! The salad bar was basic but it was complimentary with my meal so it was good enough. The tomato bisque soup was really creamy and delicious! My husband ordered the bacon cheeseburger and it was huge! I also enjoyed his dinner hehe. Overall a great place to have a couple drinks and enjoy tasty food! Don't let the location and appearance of the place drive you away. I've been going to Maxdon's for approximately 20 years. They have great food. I love their Filet and their blackened Salmon. Their drinks are always on point! I can never explain why their vodka tonic is better than anywhere else I go. If you have not been, I highly recommend you give them a try. The salad bar is nothing special. The mashed potatoes and the Mac and cheese are so-so, but the tomato bisque is very tasty. The garlic bread and french fries are delicious. The 19 oz ribeye steak was incredible. The service is very friendly. I was taken here by some good friends for my 60th birthday on 3/13/23. I've lived in the A.V. for 34 years and sadly have never been. I ordered the filet mignon meal and it was so delicious I can't stop talking or thinking about it The steak was cooked to perfection, and although I love a baked potato with my steak, they do not serve them. My friend suggested I try the mac & cheese with bacon, and it was to die for. With the soup and salad, homemade in-house, including the dressings and garlic bread, my left overs created a meal to take home for my mom can you tell I was very impressed? I also love the dark atmosphere, and the cozy booths. We have a friend with an upcoming birthday, so I'm calling today to see if they have gift certificates. I could not get out of here fast enough. My friend and I ordered drinks and were met with the rude waitress saying "I don't drink the sweet stuff. I'm all whisky honey". Good for her. I wanted something sweet and that's what she should have gotten me without the rude comment. It's hot and dark and stuffy in here and musty! We asked for the check right after we got our drinks because we knew this wasn't the place for us. The rude waitress asked "was it something I said or did?". So she obviously knew. RUN, don't walk, to "The Best Hamburger" in the AV!!! I'm not kidding. Bartender/waitress Carly takes that 8 oz. of great-tasting beef down to the open grill at the end of the dining and bar area. So you get to see that hamburger being lovingly tended to on the grill, and you can smell the most wonderful things wafting across your table as it cooks. Oh, yes, we're talking grill marks on the bun! :) Try a medium-rare PBB - Provolone, Blue, Bacon. I order it with the appetizer onion rings which I prefer to the french fries, and they do them really well here, beautifully crispy and yet juicy inside. Add a little bit of salt, and you're just having a heavenly experience. The two of us share them, and can't stop eating until they're all gone. I know this is going to sound weird, but try a "Red & Pink" salad: that's beetroot, covered with blue cheese salad dressing, and some red onions thrown on top. Mr. Picky wanted to come in today to try the broccoli cheese soup served on Saturdays, but thinks he likes the Friday clam chowder better. Okay, so I'm full and I'm happy. So we were in route for some Mexican food when noticed this place. Best steak in town so we decided to give it a try. Were we in for an experience! So the place is super dark inside. Very dark. At first our waitress was friendly but when she served the food I didn't get utensils and she was annoyed I asked for it. The food. Ordered the rib eye but to my surprise I got two small pieces of steak. Who serves it like that? Looked more like leftovers than my own steak. The other meal was bad too. Btw they do microwave the food. That was not the best steak in town. It was the worse experience indeed and we paid high prices for it. Mash potatoes are microwaved and tasteless same as Mac and cheese. We did not eat our food and left after paying the bill. Do no waste your time. Believe all these bad reviews, place is nasty. As a road warrior, I'm always looking for local establishments that serve excellent food. At the recommendation of a colleague, I tried Maxdons. The sign on the building says "best steaks in town" and the sign doesn't lie. My top sirloin was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I added mushrooms & onions that enhanced the experience. I've had steaks at some of the better restaurants in the country and Maxdons compares very well and beats some of them. I will definitely be back when I return to the area. read more

Blessed the Day be!!! I have found this sacred treasure. Phew, was out in the area for a few weeks for work. A local suggested the joint and no good foodie turns down a suggestion from a husky-local. A group of about 15 of us made the voyage to Maxdon's. I'm pretty sure we slightly overwhelmed the quite bar/restuarant with our large group. Not to worry; drinks were flowing and they had a juke box. Our amazing server delivers our mammoth portions of juicy mouth-watering slabs of beef and it was game on. Keep in mind that we arrived a little later in the evening and the staff did more than to make us feel welcome and at home. As a matter of fact we ate there 4 times during my stay. Over the years I have eagerly searched for this amazing dive. I live in Vegas so to me IT IS worth my time/$ to venture to the quite town of Lancaster, CA and enjoy some exceptional steak. Not to mention their char broiler literally sits within view of the bar. I had an awesome experience and so did the rest of my hungry and well-intoxicated crew. See you soon... BTW. We've been coming here for years I loved the food and ambience. The bartenders knew how to make just about any drink you wanted. But in last month, they can't make a decent drink. They have problems making simple drinks that taste great. If you love your steak medium rare or medium you are out of luck. If you love it raw or well done this is the place for you. It breaks my heart that I need to find a new place to drink and place to have a great steak. Racist place to go eat at, guy claimed to be the owner and yelled at a homeless man sitting outside no bothering anyone just asking for money in the parking lot, I was dining and eating and hear everything he said to him and told him to go across the street to a Mexican restaurant where they said he'll fit in better hence the homeless man being Hispanic. Too late for me to record him and do something about it because the homeless man had already left before I had the chance to go outside but will never ever come here ever again due do this experience and how pathetic the owner was to this man. read more
