If you or a loved one requires the services of a Digestive and/or Liver Disorders physician take…read morethe time to meet with the IU Team. Please know I personally feel the Digestive and Liver Disorders Center at IU Hospital is one of the best in the country. They are incredibly busy but work with each patient based upon the gravity of the illness. The physicians, surgeons, nurses, CNA and complete team are past amazing but more along the level of phenomenal. The surgeons and physicians have spent years treating my health issues and truly saved my life. Now, years after my procedure, I still receive the same excellent care as the first day I met my team of doctors. The extraordinary level of compassion and devotion never seems to diminish. After working with my physicians and team I found a new inter-strength and put my life into their hands and those above. I never doubted their skills or wisdom nor would they give anything less than a 150% during surgery after a little assistance from above. I feel blessed I live in Indianapolis and was referred to my IU Physicians after a gall bladder issue. The treatment path is usually long, frustrating with many hoops to jump through with a sense of helplessness. The team remains steady while encouraging and doesn't fall down on the job. Now coming up on my 4 year post surgery anniversary these tenacious physicians and staff regularly monitor, treat any new developing medical issues and confirm all is going well. Many patients have temporarily moved to Indianapolis to request health care from the Digestive & Liver Disorders Center. I feel fortunate I am located in Indianapolis and didn't have to experience the long drives, temporary moves from out of state to Indy after being on a waiting list for years. Dr. Saurabh Agrawal is my physician and takes time with each patient and truly listens to your concerns.

I don't think there was any consideration for my age. Noting no change in my regaining my "old self" after many days, I wanted the Dr. to know of the many side effects I'd been left with. I questioned Dr. Clarke about each one: he was very dismissive and " it may take a little longer for you to feel better." The discharge papers stated I'd had a "therapeutic stretch injury." My throat still feels swollen or like a "lump in my throat." The Dr.'s answer to my concern; " see your ENT." His post scope Rx caused a side effect of day-long headaches. I threw the meds away and asked "What now?" The Dr.'s response: "get an OTC anti-acid." There was never any empathy; Again," it may just take longer for you to feel better." Over two months later, I still have headaches, never in my life had I ever experienced them until this Scope. One result of the procedure left my voice changing dramatically; I did not recognize my own speech. If I talked more than a few minutes I began adopting a guttural voice and had to stop phone calls or conversing with family. I used to be a peppy lady, very social, and quite often met my family and friends for shopping outings and lunches. No more, I'm worn out all the time. I just slog around my home and regret so very much agreeing to the scope. I had colorectal cancer two years ago, successfully taken care of by another physician. That Dr.'s office recommended Dr. Clarke for my digestive concern; I worried that I had cancer again rather than a digestive complaint. I agreed to the endoscopy and it was the worst mistake of my life. The most encouraging words after my entire ordeal were from the nurses at the Endoscopy Center; they were very caring and after I had told them of my experience, the Center's Manager phoned me to express her caring and sympathy. She wanted to know more about my lack of well-being and the lack of empathy I'd received from the Dr. I told her everything as I am doing here.

I mean... spending habits is a pretty personal thing in the first place... so why not review my awesome doctor? So... yada, yada I have a past of some cancer yeah... I'm technically sorta a "cancer survivor," yada, yada... and when I moved here I was recommended to Dr. Black by some loved ones that have been seeing him for years. So yeah... I didn't feel a thing! Totally sedated and taken care for my colon scoping! They suggested something called "MoviPrep," for the 24 hour fasting/cleansing and well, sorry, but that's just the finest damn name ever: "MoviPrep. Here to cinematically prepare you for the most epic of adventures, starring a colonoscopy. MoviPrep. Preparing you for your own movie of life. MoviPrep!" Recently though... I went in for a conversation/consultation check up (no procedures), and it was the best doctor visit of my life. "Dude knows what's up." He doesn't treat me like I'm a freak for being so young with all this; instead, he's interested in it all and is up to just have a conversation about how fascinating it all is. Giving me the straight facts to quell my nerves about what the hell I am. Apparently I'm a 1 in a million sorta thing about being so young, and I'm rather lucky. I'm lucky to have found such a good Doc really... so when your number is called for the colonoscopy head to Dr. David Black. Note: I love that "colonoscopy" and, "gastroenterologist," are coming up with the red-dotted lines as if they're misspelled words because Yelp doesn't have them in their database. I am the first person to ever review this sort of thing? Awesome. Note: He's in the building next to the hospital that has the parking garage below it that looks like it could fall over at any instant (if you ask me... that lived in earthquaketown for awhile). And, the parking garage had a cardboard, hand written sign on the ticket booth that read: Sorry ticket machine down. Please remember your "time," that you entered. I know realize I really should have a photo of something that used quotations for time. "Time?" Note: no CC payments, only cash or check by mail & in person (yeah. I know). Don't let it stop you though!
