If I could, I would give this facility less than one star! The nurse O-B and here supervisor, Rachael, pretended to listen and care but did nothing to improve my mother's situation while there! If anything, she got worse while she was under their care and objected to us removing my mother from the facility when we saw it was necessary. Many of the staff are good at what they do, unfortunately, the two handling my mother's care during her rehabilitation weren't!! Other staff members privately confirmed that they are very short-handed at this facility and nurses don't voluntarily chip in to help the Certified Nurse's Aids (CNAs) when needed! As a matter of fact, very few of the staff volunteer to do anything and give the impression that it is a major inconvenience to assist! Phone calls ring endlessly, patients' "red button" calls go ignored!!! The staff doctor, Dr. Satani, isn't much better if we consider effectiveness. Besides, he goes twice a week and many times... not even that! It's a real mess at this facility although they insist that the change in management last summer has made some major improvement!!! Although complaints were ongoing on our part, the head administrator took no interest in reaching out to us. Thanks to Joanna, Social Administrator, who was the only one who listened and helped us with our situation. If you love your family member, DON'T bring them here! If you have had a good or bad experience, please post them to let future family members know the present condition of this facility. My regret is that I didn't take the bad reviews more seriously. My hopes were that since they were from a few years ago that things had improved... not the case!!! Stay away from here and look for another place! Patient care is the number one focus, nursing, therapy, activities, dietary and even house keeping. They are all phenomenal. I have never seen so many employees that genuinely care about everyone and provide amazing patient care and customer service. There is new ownership in place as of last summer, which was a very positive change. They're a small locally owned company that was built on morals and ethics, and prides themselves on patient care. I would highly recommend this facility whether you're looking for short term rehab or long term care. Take a tour and meet the staff, you will be impressed. read more

I can not begin to even explain the compassion, long hours, and dedication our staff has shown. The COVID 19 separated family's from their loved ones. The staff at Matlock has taken the time to spend with residents, ensured all of their needs have been met. Matlock has been able to keep and contained COVID 19-to very very very few cases of in the facility here at Matlock. (WITH THAT I AM THANKFUL TO WORK A LONG SIDE THEM). Our DON and ADMIN have taken every precaution to protect the residents and staffs safety. Working in healthcare during this pandemic has not been easy on anyone.... I am proud to say that we have the best team I have worked with in long term care. Our dietary staff has gone the extra mile to ensure meals are hot and just what they are asking for. Our Activities Director has stepped it up with all the entertainment for the residents... hallway bingo has been a big hit. Before you think twice about sending your loved one anywhere else, give our admissions dept a call. Make sure to thank a healthcare worker.. a little goes a long way. read more

This nursing home has RN's and LVN's that walk around with ear phones in their ears listening to music and making personal calls. There is a CNA who wears a pink uniform that only licensed nurses are supposed to wear named Genava and makes like she is a licensed nurse and is allowed to hire licensed nurses, train them and give them directives. There is an elderly female LVN who supervises the LVN's and RN's that sits on her rear end all day and refuses to provide resident care. The maintenance man talks to the nurses like they are garbage and is given the authority to discipline licensed nurses. Ever since these new people have come and taken over the care of the residents has gone downhill. Nursing assistants hide in the residents room with the doors closed texting and gossiping. The residents STINK. Filthy teeth and hands. The activity director violates the residents rights by making them watch Christian movies. They indoctrinate the new employees with their Christina beliefs when they go to orientation. The person doing employee orientation is an old retired school teacher who knows NOTHING about nursing or nursing homes and speaks to the new hires like they are stupid school children and spends most of the time talking about herself and her issues. The bathrooms are filthy. Staff eating fried chicken and hamburgers at the nurse station. They don't wash their hands in between patients. They don't put the desert on the tray They put the sweets on a large tray where any resident even a diabetic can just grab it. Kitchen feeding only their favorite employees food. This place is a mess. read more

It may not be the newest facility. My mom has been there for four years. They do make mistakes sometimes but she loves the staff and is happy. As long as she is happy i all be happy. It is always clean, You may have to track down a nurse from time to time but in general not a bad place. read more

Do not put your loved one in this facility, it is a NIGHTMARE. They do not care for their patients at all, and the staff is so incompetent. Anytime my family member asked for help or used the call lights no one came to help him. I had to track down the nurses to get them to do their jobs. Once I found my family member sitting in his own filth, and although he had been calling for help, no one came. He sat in his dirty diaper for over 4 hours. For a while they weren't even give him the right medicine! This left him lethargic, confused and unable to participate in the rehabilitation therapy that he desperately needed. When we confronted them they just blamed it on his blood pressure. We told them that they were wrong, but they refused to listen to us or to check with his doctor. We begged for them to listen, but it wasn't until after a visit from his physician did they admit the mistake. Anytime I would complain or ask for help the staff would give me an attitude and treat my whole family very rudely. There was another (much worse) incident that occurred, and although we live 5 minutes away they refused to call and inform us that our family member was in trouble. One of the social workers I talked to was the worst! She was rude and didn't even treat my family member with the dignity or respect that he deserved. When we asked why she didn't notify us, she rudely explained that because of his dementia he wouldn't have even noticed us there, and that he wasn't competent enough to ask for us. After I explained that I would have liked to at least been there for support (even just to hold his hand) she explained that she was there and that was good enough. I don't want "good enough" for my family member! It seemed like it was a problem that I was asking them to do their job and take care of my family member. All I wanted was for my loved one to be taken care of. To think that we trust them with our family, pay their fees, and in return they shove them into the next empty room and forget about them. I understand that this line of work can be difficult, but this is my family member's life we are talking about. Someone that you care about greatly and love with all your heart deserves better treatment than this. Their reckless behavior could have potentially harmed him. If you want your family member to be taken care of, and treated with respect.... TAKE THEM ANYWHERE BUT MATLOCK PLACE!!!! read more
