No idea what she's talking about with regard to his mannerisms, I found him to be a consummate professional at all times. Disregard the earlier review; this person obviously whiffed on the GRE and decided to take it out on her tutor.

He've learned a lot, well beyond the standard program, and all while playing and having fun. Just a few things kids learn there: reading and writing, math, chess, theater, vocal, science. There is a music teacher who plays multiple instruments and a real fortepiano in the playroom! They also feed kids with freshly made home-cooked meals. My son started eating soup on his own!!! We also attended Saturday classes where children focus on speech development, theater and science. I could not recommend this place enough, it is so good, I would love to go there myself!

I reached out to Excel to express my concerns... Without even looking up my son's info, they reactively read off a generic bullet list of prepared responses (I guess they get many of these type of calls) ... kid didn't study hard enough, not all kids will improve scores significantly, kid might not have taken Algebra 2 yet (for the record, he has already taken Algebra 2), some past students saw 300 point increases, so problem can't be the program, problem has to be your kid. It's really disappointing that instead of focusing on options to help the student, they focused most of the call on BLAMING the student. I asked if it was an option for my son to repeat the course in hopes that it will result in a better outcome the second time around. They bluntly said: "No, that is not an option. We do not give guarantees" Considering that larger competitors like Princeton Review are confident enough in their program to offer guarantees on your test results, one should think twice before signing up with Excel.

At $225/hour ($300+ per session), we expected a highly qualified tutor matched to that level. My child went from a 1450 SAT / 1400 PSAT to the 1300s. From the start, sessions felt misaligned - too much time spent on basic review, non-test conversation, and even scheduling during paid lesson time. The approach also introduced confusing strategies that ultimately hurt her confidence and performance rather than improving it. We raised concerns early, but nothing changed. Instead of building on a strong foundation, the tutoring left her more uncertain and worse off than when she started - and now we have to spend more money just to get her back to where she was.
