I don't even know where to begin... If you are planning to breastfeed or have any discomfort my advice is to give Debby a call. I thought breastfeeding would come naturally and that pain was to be expected. Boy was I wrong! The nurses at the hospital kept telling me my daughter was latched (she was not)...three days later, two scabs, and way too many blisters ON MY NIPPLES to count I was in so much pain just the thought of my daughter looking at my breasts made me cry. My husband had gotten Debby's number from a friend and I am forever grateful for her. It turned out that my babes was not latched on properly and therefore not getting any milk and instead of her crying to let me know she would just get frustrated and fall asleep. Long story short my baby girl was dehydrated and if Debby had not initiated a what sup video call to chat before we met we would have ended up in emerg. She helped keep me calm and assured me that my daughter would be a breastfed baby. At the time when I didn't think it would be possible she gave me hope and the encouragement I needed to keep pushing and stay committed to the breast. We saw her the following day and my nipples were way to sore and damaged to latch so we practiced cup feeding and manual expression to give my nipples time to heal. Next visit we practiced latching. It took some time but we got there! Debby kept reminding me that breastfeeding should not be painful and that if I felt any pain my sweet baby girl was not latched properly and that I needed to break the latch (PROPERLY.. never pull your nipple out!!!) After a few weeks I was completely healed(yes the damage was THAT bad save yourself the trouble and call Deb shortly after you give birth lol make her your second call!) Once healed breastfeeding was still a lot of work but it got better with each passing day (baby and mom learn to breastfeed by breastfeeding!!) Fast forward five months and we are still exclusivley breastfeeding and my daughter is a champ! What seemed like a nonstarter turned into our amazing reality. I cannot put into words the beautiful bond my daughter and I share especially while breastfeeding and for that I have Debby to thank. We are forever grateful for Debby's knowledge, compassion and of course patience! Give her a call and I promise you will not regret it. I was having trouble with my newborn and her latching. Debby was an angel on earth, i owe her everything.. My first visit with her she started the session off reminding me that i am doing a great job. It sounds silly but it really does make you feel better hearing that as a first time mom. After educating me on how a baby should properly breast feed, she assessed my daughter and determined she was not tongue tied. Next she assessed how i breast fed and offered tips, she quickly determined i had flat nipples which was making it hard for baby to latch. Debby worked with me to come up with a plan. We agreed i would pump breast milk to ensure i kept my supply and that i could wean my baby off formula, which was very important to me. She advised to limit my breast feeding attempt for now, because the baby and i would get frustrated due to the lack of success. She educated me on what foods to eat to promote milk supply and said that sometimes the pumping would help make my nipples a better shape for latching in the future; when i felt ready i could try nursing again. After working with Debby, my husband and i noticed a confidence in me , that was lacking before. My breast milk has come in, i am pumping and feeding my baby whatever i can produce, and saving on formula. i have even managed to latch my daughter every so often. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Debby. Very thankful to have connected with Deb. Her approach is very personalized. Being a new mom, I didn't know what questions to ask or how to even identify / articulate issues I was experiencing (spitting up, coughing on milk, trouble staying latched, trouble getting into a comfy position post c-section, confusion about feeding "schedule"...). Meeting Debby felt like a life saving moment to me. Debby is absolutely amazing!!!! I was 5 days postpartum and my daughter was not drinking a single oz for hours. I was having a lot of trouble breastfeeding my second child. I called Debby to see if she could help and the second that she walked into my house, she began to work her magic.
