There are so many lamps and lights packed into a relatively tight space that it's kind of amazing. Don't flail your arms or you may end up creating many hundreds of franks' worth of damage. Matahari is sort of a one-at-a-time type of joint given that there is hardly room for more than one person at the counter and at the counter is where you would find the man or woman in charge.
I went in with a lamp stand hoping to find a suitable shade and was given some great info. on the history of it and on what type of shade I could expect to have fit my stand. I was left to browse a bit and the customer who came in after me took up so much of the shop keeper's time with exactly the same type of query as mine that I had to excuse myself in order to come back when I had more time to wait. Perhaps the moral of that story is try not to let the shopkeeper out of your sight until you've truly found what you're looking for. This is especially true given that many of these glorious and somewhat delicate shades are out of reach and one would need the help of the shopkeeper just to have a better look at them.
Matahari also stocks a selection of hard-to-find bulbs of glorious golden hues, shapes and sizes. That fact in and of itself is makes a trip to Matahari worthwhile.
