Sparkling Lavender and a Pink Lady
Michael M.

Update : 12/02/2023 : Back in Savannah for a weekend and decided we'd give Mata Hari's a second chance, to maybe redeem themselves... Got a ticket for the earlier of 2 burlesque shows scheduled for the night. Our bartender was up to the task tonight, which was good because the place filled up pretty quick. But... this time the venue itself got the demerit as we waited, and waited, and waited, until they finally announced that due to technical difficulties, the burlesque was cancelled for the evening. Sigh... There probably won't be another chance...

Make sure you get the code to enter!

This was my second time coming here, and both times were a blast. It can be kind of tricky to get in as you need a code from one of the local hotels, or one time i visited one of my friends had a skeleton key that gained us all access. Can also be hard to find, but that is kind of the whole thing behind speakeasy's. Once you enter the decor is very fitting and the bartenders are also dressed to the part. If you come at the right time you can catch a burlesque show in a secret room. I went both times I've been and have yet to be disappointed .

I think we were the first ones in. They were welcoming in. It has a cool vibe , the 70's music playing didn't really go with it . The Bartender 's were engaging and they made exceptional strong drinks!! We went to the burlesque show . My advice is, don't go save your money. They have vip seating with a table , and only sits a little closer. Don't waste your money . They did 6 different dances . They were fun . They don't show any nudity, not even a flash . I'm not sure why not . Since it is a burlesque show . The host was flat not funny. He tells a story of his whiskey dick . He can't get it up. So he can eat out a woman for an hour. And then he tells the audience you get pills at the local store for $3.95. Then he did a name that tune contest between two women. One woman clearly was winning , but he gets another one to play against her , and then another one . He finally awarded her two free drinks. I think he was stretching it for time.

Alleyway and stairs that lead to the hidden door.

A speak easy vibe, hidden in downtown Savannah. The first challenge is finding it! It's up the stairs in between an alley. There is a nondescript door with a sign instructing you to flip the switch. The second challenge is knowing the password which changes on a weekly basis. You could purchase a key once inside, or call the concierges in the local area for the password. We also caught the burlesque show by the Downtown Delilah's, $35 per person, which also included a quasi comedy show. The entrance for the show was through a cabinet which opened to the stage. Show was ok, as well the comedy routine by the MC. Dress code was lax and the drinks were a bit overpriced for the quality.

Perfect spot to enjoy a cocktail and good music! We were looking for a place to enjoy a drink and have a seat and this was just perfect. They have good drink selections and the staff were awesome. The ambiance of the place was nice as well. I would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking for a cute little hidden bar. Make sure to find the password before coming!

Hidden speakeasy bar that also has a burlesque show behind a closet door. The drinks weren't that great but would be a great date spot or a place to go out with your friends!

The absolute best kept secret of Savannah. You will suffer to get a drink, but the visual spectacle of the show is Moulin Rouge worthy. You may ask what is the show. Well, let me tell you about the center boudoir. It may mask as an armoire, but it is the priceless entrance to the best show in Savannah. Strip clubs, nah. Bars, nah. Pay to see this, it is exactly where it's at. Everyone prays to be something, but these women are stars and it is done with such sexiness and class I don't even have the words.

Downtown Delilahs

Mata Hari is a sexy hidden speakeasy located in Savannah's Historic District. You need a password to get in, which changes frequently. (Visit a hotel nearby for password assistance) The next challenge is finding the unmarked door in a dimly lit alley way. Once inside, you feel transported to the 1920s with live music and a delicious cocktail menu. But what makes Mata Hari so sexy? Well, behind a secret wardbrobe closet is the entrance to a hidden backroom for a modern burlesque caberet! No photography or filming was allowed during the show, but I would definitely recommend purchasing tickets to watch The Downtown Delilahs perform.

It's a hidden speakeasy I feel like I am from the past once you step in.

Very fun feel for a speakeasy, but the drinks were just okay. The concierge at my hotel was able to get me the password.

Good drinks, poor service. Singer would sing three songs and break for six DJ'd songs....not cool. Good vibe but not too impressed.

This place is an eclectic assortment of prohibition era cocktails. The drinks were great, the ambiance on point.

We had a great time here - cocktails weren't the greatest but the ambiance was cool. We didn't dress up but the costumes were a nice touch.

Is this wheel chair accessible? I keep reading about stairs and more stairs?

It's difficult to get to with the number of stairs. I didn't see a wheel chair accessible route.

I've had the chance to visit The Lost Square both during the winter and this past week during the summer. They have a great view of the river and cozy lounge seating, as well as a full bar. The first time I visited was near Christmas and it was freezing outside, but they had a burning fireplace and the cutest little enclosed glass houses you could sit in to enjoy your drinks. During my recent visit, we had our 1 yr old son with us and decided to have dinner there and enjoy the weather. I had the Valencian Spritz (reposado, orange aperitif wine, fresh orange, white pepper, and cava) which was the perfect summer drink. My husband had the Soft Light mocktail (zero proof gin, papaya, kefir, and saline). For food, we started with the Labneh dip topped with olive oil, za'atar, and honey with fresh pitas on the side. Wow, this has got to be the best pita I've ever had. They were so fluffy, warm, and well seasoned. We even got a second order. The labneh dip was phenomenal -- highly recommend for an appetizer or just a snack. We also shared to the falafel bites and the Alida Burger which was very tasty! We'll definitely be back for another visit the next time we're in Savannah!

What a beautiful picturesque place to have some bites and cocktails!…read more I was welcomed into this moody, velvety spot with a sweeping view of the river. Beautiful glass, marble, deep colors of navy, mauve, and gold. Service was wonderful, felt welcomed immediately. For my appetizer, I had the crab cake with homemade tartar sauce, which was a light, bright way to start the evening. For my entree, I had the filet mignon. The server will tell you, the menu says tapas, but the servings are larger than that. Meat portions are generous at 6 oz. My only complaint is that I ordered my steak medium and got closer to well done. At least the steak was still moist and not dried out, but I would be hesitant to do the steak again. The spinach risotto I had with it was creamy and cheesy, however, so that was nice. Other options for food include burrata, a charcuterie board, grilled shrimp, sea bass, salmon, scallops. The cocktails are the real star here. They fall under the categories "strong and adventurous," light fare," and "signature." Non-alcoholic cocktails are also available. I started with the medusa 1597, under "strong and adventurous." Made with Old Tom Gin, extra dry vermouth, truffle, grapefruit, and amaro, it was extremely strong. A bold, slow sipper I would have done better to have later in the evening, but I still appreciate the complexity of it. I also had the Bella primavera, a lighter cocktail under the signature section. Made with pisco, blanc vermouth, French herbal liqueur, watermelon, and basil leaf. A smoother, brighter, faster sip than the Medusa. And I also had the blood orange martini, made with French vodka, blood orange, lime, and cranberry. A little sweet, but not cloying, and again, would have been a better starter as opposed to a closer. I think when I return, I will ask the bartender to make me off the menu drinks. This place seems creative enough that the outcome would be fantastic. I loved this place. The vibe, the view, the service, the offerings. Can't wait to see what more they have in store.
