At the time, the Karate Kid was popular and my parents had a coupon to the Dragon Gym, They figured, at the least, two weeks free training and a uniform would be a neat experience. For the next 14 years, the Dragon Gym transformed me into a disciplined, healthy, and focused individual, and helped lay the foundation for spiritual growth and introspection. It's so much more than an activity. It's a way of life. The current head master, Somnath Sikdar, and his partner, Master Lonnie Beck, came up with me through the ranks. After a 20 year absence from the area, I've returned to find that the current iteration of the gym has maintained what makes the Dragon Gym special, while adding different arts and programs and putting great effort into tailoring progression to fit a child's intellectual,physical, and psychological development. To sum it up, there's nothing like the integration of body, mind, and spirit coupled with the ability to focus and overcome challenges in your life. There is a large matted area in the back and there is a space in the front for parents to wait for there children. The charge is $80.00 a month per child, but if you have two you get a discount so it is only $150.00. You can come in for classes that are available all week, three times. They are open from 11:00-10:00 Monday through Saturday and Sunday open Mat by appointment. They offer group and private lessons. My girls just finished there first lesson and they loved it. They are wanting to come back tomorrow. I guess that is a good sign.

Master "C" is very good with kids. He is fun, charming, and energetic. He pays attentions to details and helps my girl in her forms. One thing that stands out for me is Master "C" does not just teach martial arts. He also teaches the philosophy of martial arts including respect, integrity, self discipline, patience... all the virtues that should be taught along side martial arts (which sadly have been lost in other studios). I plan to keep my daughter here for a long time hoping to enhance my girl's life skills, not just martial arts. I strongly recommend this studio.

The Master (surprisingly) was young, but after one trial class, my 7 year old daughter was hooked. She loved how Master Andrew made classes fun, entertaining, and filled with laughter, but also included times for serious learning accordingly. He understands if the kids are having a difficult time with certain forms, but continues to encourage them which helps give them that push to continue, rather than to quit. This dojo is also run by the most family-oriented family, whom (from what I've seen) all remembers each students and their families names. They are constantly sanitizing and keeping the place clean. Yes, even before covid hit. 4 years later, my daughter who started out as a no belt, holds a second degree black belt. Thank you to Master Andrew and Master Yang for having superb positive teaching values for the children.

We've been going to JS TKD for several months now, and I've been waiting to write a review…read more Master Andrew is provides a perfect balance of kindness and structure for the kids to learn the principles of TKD. My son struggles with paying attention in school, but here he loves "focusing" and learning new techniques. It's the right balance of challenge and accomplishment. The facility is nice enough, there is enough room for all the kids to spread out. Class sizes are around 12-15, which is perfect. Belt progression is not guaranteed, and belt testing is serious. Master Andrew trains his students to be competitive and many do participate in state and national competitions, but we're only white belt, so a ways to go still. If you're looking for a family-friendly, flexible, fun and competitive environment, this is the place.
