    If I could post with "0" for the stars I would…read more I will start my lessons learned dealing with this plumber: 1. Ask for costs up front because it's not something that this plumber thought should be disclosed until after the fact. 2. Observe for up-selling to replace vs. repair. 3. Don't listen to 1 source - ask around because there are people with more advanced equipment that can fix what exists rather than replace. 4. Listen to your gut and be guided by the person who is presenting cost contentious quote. 5. Go outside of the local service people to get a different approach to the problem. 6. Take note and be aware of how you are regarded as a single female new to the area.... Watch for exploitation and price gouging. 7. Review service people and share bad practices but to me good experiences are even more valuable. 8. When a business advertises 24/7 availability and ignore communications from first contact do not use. Here's why I called this plumber: I detected mildew on 2 furniture items in my home in totally different areas. Because my neighbor had work done in their home I contacted Howard and Sons per their recommendations. I received a call 1-2 days after my initial contact to the office and Jerrod Howard came to my home 9/3/21. I communicated that I had cleaned the 2 items that had mildew and had no further development so I attributed the problem to the humid climate from the rainy weather. Upon discussing this same scenario with a subsequent service person, I learned it was more of an AC improper indoor temp control and not an issue that required a plumber. Jerrod assured me that I was right to call a plumber about the mildew as it may be a problem developing in the crawl space ... right! AFTER CRAWL SPACE EVAL: Jerrod went under the house crawl space and informed me no problems with any developing mold/mildew and only that the ground was moist but a barrier was not recommended.Jerrod informed me not to run the washer without being home as risk flood and indicated potential blockage problems areas from laund room to my kitchen sink. He suggested that the guy that cleared my drain before may not have done a good enough job (he did not know my line was cleared since April 2021). He also advised removal of some stored wood from in front of a garage crawl space access point. He informed me that blocked line can be due to grease and laund soap powder caking in the line. I informed him no grease or powdered soap put down the sewer. Also mentioned was possibly replacing the cast iron sewer pipes. PAYMENT DUE FOR GOING UNDER CRAWL SPACE: After telling me anticipated problems Jerrod asked if I needed a ticket and I didn't know what he was talking about. Apparently this is the term used for receipt for the $85 then informed me was what I had to pay because he went under the crawl space though never mentioned before he went under the house. I paid, got a receipt and he left. PROBLEMS PREDICTED NOW START; Wednesday 9/8/21 washer drain blockage flooded my laundry room. On Saturday 9/11 I discovered blocked plumbing from laund utility sink to the kitchen sink. Later on this day I was told about another plumber to contact so Sunday 9/12 that contact was made and I arranged for the sewer to be checked and I also sent text message to Jerrod about my concerns regarding this development but despite 24/7 service I received no response until Monday 9/13. On Wednesday 9/15 plumber #2 couldn't access the crawl space as I had wood that I had to move but advised possible cast iron pipe replacement. CONTINUED/UNRESOLVED SEWER BLOCK: I had another plumber (#3) at my home on 9/20/21 who was unsuccessful to clear the sewer lines. He advised to get more eval and to be alert to people who are suggest the most costly solution to the problem and selling other stuff that has nothing to do with the problem. Finally, #4 person plumber extraordinaire was able to clear the sewer line at an affordable cost. The sewer line was not replaced at a crazy cost in excess $2000 as suggested to me. EXCUSES: After I attempted to call the Howard & Sons office (prior to plumber #4) my call went to a voicemail & the # was not able to take a message. I sent office email comm and text Jerrod. In Jerrod's words this was all coincidences that the sewer problems started. I had asked for my $85 back since my first notification on this sewer problem. He said he'd return it if that's what I want but of course hasn't. He said he would have came back to the house to help with the sewer blockage problem if I would have taken his call. Really... I pray no one else conduct business like this. Bless Howard and Sons on their journey as for me, my 1 ride in dealing with this business was enough!
