Ridiculous. At times, there were no appointments available for MONTHS! We had previously canceled a few years back when they were under similar circumstances. Foolishly, we believed the new manager when she told us that was no longer an issue. After stacking up 6 or 7 massages, due to lack of availability, we canceled again, and just "ate" our lost money. Come to find out they still have been charging us for 6 months of no service! $170/mo for 6 months! Manager was snotty, and said we'd signed a year contract, and it wasn't her fault that we didn't read the fine print. I have no problems with the actual services of this location. Massages, stretching, and facials have all been great. My problem is that I have accrued so many credits that I can never use them up, because I have not been able to schedule a massage before I accrue more credits. I cannot dig myself out of this hole! I want to cancel my membership, but if I do, I lose out on almost $800!! I asked for a refund, but was told no. I asked for an opportunity to use up the credits I have already paid for, but was told I can put my account on hold for six months at an ADDITIONAL cost of $10/month. It is impossible to use them up at the rate I am able to schedule. At the end of six months, I will go back to accruing credits. This is such scummy business practice! Through no fault of my own, I am trapped into this membership that I can't get rid of without losing out on a significant amount of money I already paid for services NOT rendered. Beware of the membership at this location!! It is a trap and you will not be able to get a massage monthly as they promise in the agreement. You will be forced to hold up your end of the bargain, but they won't hold up theirs!! read more

Make sure you thoroughly read that contract before you join. If you have unused credits with them and can't get scheduled consistently enough, you lose all accrued credits 60 days from cancellation. That would be generous if their scheduling options were more consistent. The therapist turnover has been problematic, leading to unpredictable scheduling options. You must pay to keep credits if you can't find enough windows within their schedule, and the "freeze your accounts" program (which basically means you pay to keep the credits you paid for already and is only offered by speaking with a manager last I tried) automatically reverts if you don't catch it in time. Suddenly you're accruing more credits. I felt very strongly that the business practices and the contract were designed to hook you and keep you from being able to terminate the relationship without losing money (in the form of credits). Despite being a customer for about five years, the manager did not attempt to keep my business, nor did I feel she owned my concerns. Instead, the manager told me to refer to my contract and, ostensibly, with a fair degree of passive aggression, offered to resend the contract for my review. She's not wrong contractually. Legal isn't the same as good customer service. My concerns have been with the ongoing fees and inconsistency in scheduling and therapists. I had some great and not-so-great massages over the years of patronage. Still, even when I found a therapist I liked, getting in to see them specifically was progressively more complex over time, and they would leave unexpectedly. I have been exhausted with the maintenance of this business, and I'm concerned I'll be trapped in "credit limbo" again should I choose to stay. Thus, I'm simply sharing my experience and recommending that you carefully review this commitment. ***ZERO STAR*** I have NEVER written a bad review. But, this situation definitely needs to be addressed and others warned! I went to Massage Envy, the Missoula, MT location, to get a massage for neck issues. The gentleman that did the massage was wonderful, that was not the problem. The gal at the front desk talked me into getting a membership, which did reduce what I would pay monthly for massages. She did inform me of the policies about canceling the membership early. She DID state that there were obviously unforseen circumstances that they would honor. Fast forward a few months. I was being charged monthly for these services. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to use a single massage I was charged for.  At 39 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I immediately had to have surgery, and also radiation. I am still waiting on one final pathology report to determine if Chemo is needed. Obviously,  with major surgery and the treatments I'm facing, massage is not safe for me. I called the office to discus this with them, at which point they transfered me to the manager. She was extremely rude and unsympathetic. She flat out told me "I'm sorry about whatever your diagnosis is, but there is nothing we can do"  THEN proceed to tell me "we won't refund any of your money, and you need to pay your last 3 payments"  Again, I explained to her that I have CANCER...it is not safe for me to get madsages, and because of my diagnosis I am unable to work and I can't afford what they are charging me ...for a service I have NEVER USED!  She told me "too bad, I signed a contract, there is no way out". I even offered to bring supporting medical documentation,  and/or  a note from my Oncologist. She would not even discuss it. I am so incredibly angry and disappointed. This is completely unacceptable.  I never saw myself getting cancer and having to cancel my agreement. I would much rather pay my monthly dues and get massages rather than battle cancer.  DO NOT SUPPORT OR USE MASSAGE ENVY. They are rude, mean, and very untruthful. Professional massage service, although they seem to do more business on the "spa" side with facials/masks/skin etc. All massage therapists have been responsive to requests on what to work on and the guys seem to have sports physiology background so will give you some suggestions on stretches to deal with recurring pain. Found these tremendously helpful in alleviating back pain. Only complaints involve lack of availability for regular therapists and recurring issue with billing. Sometimes can't see preferred therapists for several weeks and credit card kept getting misbilled month after month. Staff was accommodating in resolving the billing issue. read more

I am extremely pleased with my massages that are done by Josh. He has just the right amount of pressure, and doesn't talk a lot during which happens a lot at other places. I like that the massage bed is warmed, especially in the winter months. The music is soothing and josh tends to massage to the beat... Maybe he doesn't realize. Haha I usually come once a month so I will be sad to be leaving Missoula and have to go to another location. Another thing I wanted to add is that the front desk is always kind and offer you water right before you session starts. Overall, I've had a really great experience coming here. I took away only one star because I'm bummed the membership does not include facials. But that's it! read more

I have had a membership for 2 years at another location, and decided to make an appointment midway through four solid weeks of business travel. It was easy to make an appointment, select the best therapist fir me, and ensure I could use my membership credits. Big shout out to my therapist, Nathan. He was a total rockstar and knew exactly what I needed to help alleviate pain from rheumatoid arthritis. I highly recommend this location and Nathan. read more

I just went to this massage envy and Thomas the massage therapist had no idea how to massage. He softly put lotion on me and then put his elbow on an area I didn't ask to work on. I then said could you work on my neck and he said that he couldn't and didn't feel comfortable doing he entire massage. I've been to many massage envys and get a massage every week and I've never showed up and someone didn't know how to give a massage. It was the most disappointing massage experience. read more

Avoid. It's not worth it. It seems that the business model isn't sustainable and rather than deal with what I have experienced as "bait and switch" tactics, the owner tries to railroad you into pretending they're not happening, condone the obvious lies of her staff, and then actually engage in deceit directly with you. It's embarrassing to be directly lied to by employees, but when the owner of the business engages in deceit it's just shameful. If a business can't afford to offer massages at 1/2 or 1/3 the price of other establishments in town without being so cheesy, it's just not worth it to patronize them. There is a pattern. First, a great one-hour massage. You book with the same therapist and he or she begins the session by saying "only an hour today?" Planting the seed that you would be much better off scheduling 1.5 hours. Then the massage isn't so good (not as good as last time), and at the end the therapist suggests 1.5 hours. I have been getting massages on and off for 20 years and have never encountered technicians who are great and then suddenly have extreme problems with listening, remembering what you indicated you wanted worked on when you began the session, battling the urge to do whatever they want rather than what you specifically said you'd like worked on, and pretending that their sudden inability to give competent massages is completely normal. I had such a great visit with Nate here today! It was my first time at Massage Envy, and I felt immediately taken care of. My masseuse, Nate, asked me about the areas I wanted work on, and he made sure to take the time to relieve so much tension. He also made sure to apply just as much pressure as I needed while feeling comfortable. I left feeling renewed and incredibly relaxed! Would definitely return again! read more

So unprofessional, I know that business get busy...I get that. I called Massage Envy to inquire on pricing, the first thing the receptionist told me was in order to get a massage I would have to join their membership program. I personally don't want to pay more than I have to since I probably would not get a massage again for six months because money is tight. She proceeded to tell me that they were so booked that they would only honor appointments for members. So your going to boot out the people that cannot or don't want to have the membership. I know they want more money, but your building bad report. At least she could have started with sorry, we're booked for April. Not happy!!! read more
