The main hall was locked because it was weekend but the entrance hall and the bathrooms were in horrible shape. The building is falling apart, inside is dirty and smells bad and so much random stuff in the entrance hall. They are now adding more parking because apparently they have a big congregation. It's a shame that so many people come to pray here but they do not take care of the masjid, which should be inviting and peaceful. The situation of most masjid in the US is unfortunately not that different. Always feel bad bringing my kids along!

I am fortunate enough that it is right next to my house. There is a big room for the ladies and also a nursing/children's room too, which is so convenient. Bathrooms have nice Wudu stations, and parking here is a breeze. Unfortunately, I don't come here as often anymore since I go to Jummah prayer in SF due to work, but whenever I get the chance to come, I make the most of it. The meaning behind the masjid name is very heart warming, you should definitely look into it if you do know:)

I happened to visit this mosque for the first time for Jummah prayer, and what I found so unusual and uncomfortable is how the men and women had the same entrance. Especially after you're done praying and you walk out and all you see is these men staring at you. I would definitely recommend some serious change regarding the entrance.

This is a small, warm, community masjid, with no barrier between the men and women, women are actually close enough to see the imam, khutbahs (sermons) are in English, and the Muslim Journal (African American Muslim newspaper that prints pieces of religious and political importance and is in English) is for sale after jummah. The imam won me over permanently by having part of the khutbah be about racism in Islam and how it's ridiculous mosques are known by the group that dominates them (the Yemeni mosque, the Pakistani mosque, etc). He said it like it is, Muslims can be some of the most racist people. Desis that won't marry non-desis, Arabs that don't like Desis, etc, etc. Sure, he was clearly preaching to the choir, but it felt good to hear it and it was awesome he recognized how nice it would be to have more immigrants in the audience (maybe 30 men at the end and 4 women, mostly African American). I am definitely going back. Thank you for providing a religious space where I feel at home. Alhamdillilah I've found you at last.
