For years, I've been having good relationships with Asian churches and I must declare the service here are really good. I had no trouble hearing the sermon. They are really motivating and clear. Meta Community is for the adult and working professional (equivalent to Sunday School for grown-ups), and there are yearly retreats for youth, men, or adult groups. The church caters to primarly the West side of Houston, but folks from all around the city join. Baptism classes are scheduled every few weeks and me and my best buddy Allen were baptized by Pastor David Hsu. The compound has two entrances. I did not visit the one to the north but entered the one on the south. The entrance was very nice and allowed parking in several areas closer to the center of the site. I attended a ceremony to honor a relative that recently passed. They did a wonderful job from the events held at the funeral home to the ceremony at the temple and in the area where the ashes are maintained. The monks did not speak much English but conveyed their wishes and expectations throughout the various events. The 3 buildings to the south house the temple, the columbarium (place that holds the ashes, urns to honor those that have passed) and the kitchen/eating area. The temple is a large space with matts, cushions and a few chairs along the side all facing the front with Statue of Buddha and bells. The columbarium has several well-kept, beautiful rooms with memorials to the those that have passed. The service went from the temple to the columbarium to the serving area. Overall, it was a very nice ceremony in a beautiful place with wonderful people.

Now the interesting thing for me about this church, other than being able to dress however I please, is that they are HUGE about small groups and local outreach. This speaks volumes to me that this church is not about putting money in a collection tin, showing up on Sunday, and singing a few hymns to call themselves good for the week. This is a community of people who are actively seeking to grow spiritually and reflect love in the good deeds they try to do for other people. It's freakin' hard to find this church though. Turn north on Bingle Road. Turn left on Memorial Park Drive. (You should start seeing white posters with red "@" stuck everywhere into the grass.) Turn right into that parking lot that you immediately see. Also, despite what the posters say, do not freak out. Worship starts at 10, like stated on the website. Specifically for April 2012, they are having a Good Friday / Tenebrae service from 7-8pm. They would like you to come early by 6:45 so you can prepare yourself to quiet down out of respect for the service. Easter Sunday will be from 10-11:45am.

The temperature was comfortable inside during the services, the aesthetics were great, you could clearly hear the service and the music. The priest did a great job with the baptism immediately following the 1230pm service. I love the fact that their services were timely. They started immediately at 12:30. Parking was wonderful, across the street in the lot. Services started and ended on time which allowed people to get to their cars and on their way. They had crossing guard, which helped with traffic flow. What a great way to start the week.

I have passed this place up so many times but once inside I could not get keep my mouth closed it was the most beautiful place I have seen in my lifetime. The service started at 1230 and we had the christening immediately afterwards. This will not be my last time visiting. I also saw other reviews on this church but no one ever mentioned the parking and how it is plenty spot available.
