But then so does your mother. Flushing is not really synonymous with Cathedrals, although I have noticed that a lot of Asian people on the streets of flushing are handing out booklets for Christ and whatnot. Very interesting. Anyway - this is a beautiful cathedral in the heart of Flushing. It gives the area some character and it's a weird addition to the bustle of what reminds many of East Asia, because you won't see too many buildings like this in Asia, especially not for this particular religion, so it's quite the juxtaposition. East meets West. Or when it's raining and you're hungry for BBQ cart sticks, Eats meats wets.

There are a mix of people there who come to worship in one kindred Spirit. I am caucasian and my friend is chinese. My Dad was with me too as we were in the area to attend a wedding the following day. We were greeted at the door and by a friendly couple who set in front of us who were from the New Hampshire area not too far from where one of my daughter's live in New Hampshire. The church service starts with am awesome worship team who seem to have hearts to magnify the name of Jesus. I was so encouraged to sing as the words are up on the large screen up front and all seem to be singing to the Lord. We were greeted by others also as there were opportunity during the service. Pastor Gary Domiano was Pastoring during this time as we were attending the english service. We were given an overview of what he was preaching on and continued in the Book of Jonah. Such a fresh new prospective. I would certainly recommend attending this Bible preaching , thought provoking church of wondering people. There was a fellowship following the service which I am sorry to say I didn't have opportunity to stay . I am hoping next time I will certainly be there. Thank you First Baptist Church of Flushing for making us welcome.

But it is a wonderful parish community of many cultures, where Jesus and Mary are truly loved. There is a Charismatic Prayer Group that meets on Thursday evenings at 7:30 PM, where Holy Rosary is always said. All are welcome there and the Parish has many Youth activities and various Ministries, including a Vocation Ministry, Rosary Society, Youth Ministry, Faith Formation and three choirs: Adult, Youth, and Contemporary. They also sponsor various trips, retreats, and annual Pilgrimages. Check out their website, and on Facebook. They were recently named as one of only 20 churches in the United States to be a Dynamic Catholic parish. There is also a great gift shop (Suma Gift Shop) open after the masses on Sat evening and Sundays. Also they have Sunday Coffee, Cake, and Faith Sharing at 10:00AM.
