They tried a few things but finally diagnosed a backbone part to the power supply (which had been swapped) and it worked. Tech Studio is my go to place for repairs and an honest assessment! I first went to them about a year ago to fix a fan on my laptop after reading all the positive reviews. They did not disappoint, as the work was done promptly. This time I was more panicked. I have a small business and the primary desktop in the office suddenly stopped working-dead. My office came to a standstill. I contacted my IT company I have worked with for six years and was quickly told over the phone that I needed a new computer. I was skeptical and brought the CPU to Sam at Tech Studio. He told me he would have an answer later that day or the next day. I left for my car and returned within one minute to ask Sam if he could possibly work on it sooner. He already had plugged it in and got it to work. I brought my old MacBook that had bunch of issues with battery, HDMI port and cooling system, they were very honest and told me that there's an option to replace my battery for a better price in the Apple Store because they couldn't replace the battery by itself, since it was damaged and they needed to order the entire body of my laptop to replace the battery. However, I decided that replacing the body was a good option for me, since my laptop was pretty old and looked pretty bad. Yet another even BIGGER PLUG for this place. Brought my computer back after it was shutting down, acting glitchy, and all pointed to a Logicboard issue which Dan had told me could be the earlier problem when I'd had my hard drive replaced. Called APPLE which would have done it for 500 vs closer to 700 here, all doing recon as I waited to hear. Took it to Dan at TECH STUDIO asap, left it, within an hour again he called to say it was NOT a logic board. Nothing was wrong. He ran a few things and did something with my PRAM and it was FIXED. Went back so overall turnaround time about 90 minutes and he didn't even charge me for a Diagnostics run but just handed over my laptop with a smile and you're welcome. AMAZING! I took my 2010 MacBook Pro to Tech Studio and I was completely impressed and satisfied with the result. I'm not a terribly savvy computer user and their explanation of the problem I had was explained using small nontechnical words and emphasized using pictures with bright colors and big block letters. Matt was incredibly patient and helpful and definitely spoke slow enough so that I could understand what the problem was. All kidding aside, the guys here are awesome, friendly and get the job done. I had a problem with my camera and microphone on a program on my computer. Dan was able to help me. It was tricky even though everything was done correctly. My computer is difficult. He helped me over the phone and then by taking it to him. He was very patient with me as I am an older person and have a disability. So many people nowadays don't show a lot of respect to each other. I guess I'll be a black sheep on this one since I'm not giving 5 stars.... I give 3 because I can't say they don't do a good job-- I didn't end up leaving my laptop with them so I don't totally know. The initial service was pretty shotty though. I walked in to ask about two of my keyboard keys not working, with the assumption I needed a keyboard replacement, and I got the most vague and unhelpful answers possible. Not sure who I talked to (blonde guy?) but he basically just took my info and told me to leave the laptop. No quote (or at least ballpark or possibilities, etc.), he couldn't tell me what it would take to replace the keyboard (it's an old laptop, so would he have to order one, etc.) or how long I'd need to leave it at the shop. He didn't even open up the laptop and look at anything to gauge what was needed. When I asked if he could even find the right keyboard for it if that's what it needed (old laptop, remember), he chugged around on the computer for a bit and found a couple of keyboards that he said should work but he didn't really know if they would. He was extremely non-chalant, gave me absolutely no info, and just expected me to leave the laptop for an indefinite amount of time. I couldn't because it's my only means of working, but I don't think I would have anyway. Maybe he didn't actually work there but was just filling in? I found another repair guy on Yelp and everything went flawlessly. read more

These guys are fantastic. We were Googling "Mac Computer Repair West LA" when we found them. Five Stars here on Yelp. Hmmm. Thats always a good sign. We called them to explain that our cat knocked my fiance's computer off our couch, and suddenly - her computer wouldnt turn on - well, let me be clear - the computer kept making the Mac "bong" sound when she would try to re-boot it, meaning it was turning on, but there was NO PICTURE! She called and spoke to Sam - he suggested bringing it in. We were both concerned that the cat really damaged something (like we might need to replace the screen - a very expensive repair) - but it turned out to just be a loose wire that connected the screen to the computer hard drive. Sam fixed it while I waited! I was very impressed - this is a First Class operation, with very knowledgable and HONEST people running the store. Crisis and panic attack averted. I noticed this morning that my precious Lenovo was infected by some malware. My work is completely dependent on my laptop, so I rushed over to the Tech Studio. I was surprised when it was fixed in less than 5 minutes. I nearly squealed in delight. Things worth noting: 1. Street parking can be rough on Abbott Kinney. Try to find a spot in nearby neighborhoods or pull up for quick curbside assistance. 2. They have an adorable doggy mascot who loves customer attention. YOU MUST PET HER. 3. The tech guys are all about customer service. Super friendly. Very relaxed. Incredibly professional. 4. If you have a virus/malware problem, they will fix it and provide free software to protect your computer if your current anti-virus program is insufficient. 5. They can fix your computer remotely if you're out of town on business and have a computer emergency. 6. For most problems you can drop off the computer and get it back within 1 to 2 days.
