The chocolate spiral was too dense and a bit tough. Pistachios filling was great the first bite, but later it became too sweet. The chocolate croissant was decent, but rather than a croissant, it tasted more like a tart with puff pastry. We ordered a large latte and it was straight up water. Skip the coffee here. Honesty is my biggest priority and this right here proves that certain business rather lose clients then just be honest. I bought a cake for a birthday and it was placed in this box and handed to me. I realized the box was taped together when i went to take it out from the car. The person putting it in the box did it in the back so i did not see it in the bakery. They asked us to pick a table and sit and that they would deliver our order to the table. My FIL brought over some sweet treat from MC to cheer up my little one who recently broke her arm. At first I thought they were treats from mademoiselle Colette since it has similar colored box. Then we realize it was from Marvel. I remembered passing by MC in Palo Alto but FIL picked these up from the Campbell location. I was swinging by the Nob Hill plaza to charge my car a bit before driving home only to be surprised that Marvel Cakes is located right here. I've seen the croissant rolls on social media but I was impressed by the interior and ambiance of the shop. Upon entry you will see the pastries they have on display and to the back corner will be cashier and drinks menu. The service here is efficient and answer questions regarding the ingredients of the pastries very well. I came early in the afternoon so the croissant rolls were all out but they still serve lots of other pastries that you should definitely try. I saw the flat croissants the closer I got to the cashier and had to try one and as someone with sensitive teeth it wasn't too crispy where it hurt to bite. My review is based off an experience of visiting with a friend and later receiving some cakes from the same friend. Cakes are very delicious, colorful, and just beautiful. The mousse ones in particular stand out as not being too sweet, but just sweet enough. Coffee was delicious and I believe a medium roast? The staff are nice but incredibly slow and they never have enough staff working and for how much they charge I expect amazing promt service and that's not what I get. Extremely high prices and slow service has me taking my business elsewhere. I live very close and I would love to support my neighborhood business but the last few times I went I ended up leaving because you guys just don't have enough staff and the ones you do are very young and dont really know what they are doing. With the cost of everything coffee and pastries are a luxury and I feel like if youre gonna charge the prices you guys do then you should respect your customers enough to hire not only staff with experience in customer service but also enough of them. I visited this bakery to preorder a birthday cake. They have 6" & 8" cakes and if you need a larger cake they can place a 6" on top of an 8". I asked the sales person how many people an 8" can serve and she said it depends on how you cut it. Not the answer I was expecting but I guess accurate to a degree. Came here with friend's suggestion for meet up. It opens at 10am and came a few minutes before and pleased it was open! Shortly after the place filled up past 10am. Lots if couples i noticed. I wanted to try the crossiant pastries but was told there was alot of filling/creme inside which im not a fan of so instead went with the spinach tarte and french tea for my friend and i. We arrived right when they had opened and ordered 3 spiral croissants, a flat croissant, a slice of mango cake and a coquette chocolate dessert. I FINALLY DID IT! I made it in time for CIRCLE CROISSANTS! *DROOL* Since these things went viral online, I've visited three to four times with no luck. Today was the day! One of my friends asked if he wanted to meet me at a place where he eats brunch with his wife but also takes home some cakes to gift others. Disappointed with Poor Quality Cake - Not Edible I was very excited to pick up this cake for my best friend's 70th birthday -- a special and meaningful occasion. Unfortunately, it turned into a complete embarrassment. The texture was rough and inconsistent -- some parts were dry like a sponge, others overly moist.
