For me, quite a moving experience whenever I visit here. Lovely piece of neo-gothic sculpture designed by George Scott. Ridley and Latimer were burned here in October 1555, but Cranmer managed to get out of it until March 1556. In St Marys' Church on the High Street, you can sit in the chair that Cranmer used as part of his office. Do this, then walk the route to Martyrs Cross and try to put yourself in his position. Quite an experience. He wasn't blinded, as were Latimer and Ridley, so he could see what his fate was to be!!
Though gruesome, it all helps establish the historic sense of this wonderful City, which is just ahhhhhhhh! read more
