The musuem was interesting to, with artfacts from the Worcester area. Building entrance is very impressive with a large stair case, leading up to a coffee shop and the gallery and musuem. The house the collection is in is a beautiful old Georgian mansion in Twigworth which is worth seeing just for its self, but when you go inside you are greeted with some truly stunning pieces of art. They also have a number of artists in residence that you are able to watch in action which is very interesting and are willing to speak about their work that occasionally is for sale. It really is worth checking the website out to see what is on as it changes from week to week. The exhibitions are situated in a beautiful manor house surrounded by immaculate grounds. They run various types of exhibitions throughout the year so always worth checking beforehand what you are likely to see. They also have artisits in residence in some of the outhouses We have been there for croquet on the lawn to celebrate a birthday and it was great to have a good game with pimms and lemonade on the lawn with cucumber sandwiches. They also run some evening events as they have rare bats in residence so sometimes do talks which again will be on their website.

During our recent Bourton-on-the-Water visit, we escaped the Bank Holiday crowds and found The Cotswold Potter shop a few blocks off the river. This cute studio is also the home of potters John and Jude Jelfs. Everything within is hand made here, and with generous variety and reasonable pricing. John's work is mainly wheel thrown, and ranges from his individual studio pots to kitchenware and teapots. Jude makes hand-built ceramics and her work can be seen at www.judejelfs.com. Gayle and I enjoyed looking around, but only settling for an interesting coffee cup. I liked other items, but my dear Wife's words of "where are we going to put it (or do with it" rang too true in my ears.

For us - as foreign tourists, I think think this museum really gives you a feel for the great scope of history in these isles. Cirencester is not a terribly large town, yet it has history recorded continuing back 2,000+ years well reflected here. Only knocked off a star for some broken interactive exhibits - really wish I could give 4.5 stars. For what it sets out to do this is a successful effort.
