History
Established in 1863.
Martindale Baptist Church was formed over 150 years ago, the church was built on land which was donated by the original Mr.and Mrs.Martindale! We have a rich and diverse history which we are proud of, having stood unwavering on the Word of God as our ultimate authority and being a family church has always been a priority.
The original church building and parsonage were built side-by-side. An accidental fire destroyed the church in the late 1800's and it was soon rebuilt on the same land where it still stands today at 103 Main Street, Martindale, Texas. In early 2000, a new parsonage was built across the street from the church building. Around 2006, MBC purchased and renovated a building at 12351 Hwy #142, Martindale, TX which would become our new church home and house our school (Hope Christian Academy).
Meet the Manager: Pastor Nigel U.
Nigel Unrau is the Senior Pastor of Martindale Baptist Church. In 2011, Pastor Unrau along with his wife of 15 years and four children (three boys and one girl) responded to a call from the Lord to pastor Martindale Baptist church and relocated from Gainesville, Georgia to pastor here in Martindale, Texas. Born in Alberta Canada, the Unrau's have noted how strikingly similar Texas is to the cattle ranching, cowboy city they grew up in. Country folk at the heart but they'd b first to admit their lack of cowboy attributes!
Having been in the ministry since his early young adult years, Pastor Unrau has had many years of experience in a variety of church ministry roles, always being fueled by his personal relationship with Christ, His passion for Christ and for people to know Christ and make Him known. Pastor Unrau's most important personal attributes would be sincerity, humility and honesty. Most meaningful personal mantra is that all is counted as loss compared to Christ in his life.
