While on a recent month long work trip all over Australia, I was noticing the strong US dollar to…read morethe Australian and got to thinking about something I was interested in that this savings could really take advantage of. Being a watch junky with far more Swiss watches than I need but not near as many as I want, I thought of a somewhat obscure brand called NOMOS that is a small hand made, in house movement timepiece manufacturer located in Glashütte, Germany. So doing a little research I discover that the only authorized NOMOS dealer in Australia is this one in Sydney. After getting to Sydney my girlfriend and I go visit this shop which is small and on the 10th floor of a office building downtown. They mostly specialize in high end watch repair and selling some used vintage pieces. But they also feature the full NOMOS line. I was only there to look and check prices but the saving was far too tempting and we ended up getting the classic Bauhaus design his and hers NOMOS Tangente hand winders. The experience was excellent and the woman helping us was very knowledgeable and had us try on anything we liked and ask lots of questions. Truly an enjoyable experience and now we have some memorable souvenirs from the trip. Totally worth a visit if you are into vintage time pieces or the NOMOS brand.

This is a great company that throws really creative kids parties! I used to live in Syndey and was…read morevisiting my cousin. She wanted to plan her son Rufus' 5 year old birthday party and originally thought of doing a Cars themed party but wanted to do something a little different and get the kids to interact and be active. Kids today are so focused on their ipads and iphones and sometimes forget to just run around and have fun. She chose the sports themed party in the park and Ben, one of the staff members took care of the whole thing. There were about 10 5-6 year olds and the entertainment lasted for about an hour and a half. The kids had a great time and the parents basically just got to sit back and enjoy the nice day outside. There's a good variety of themes to choose from for kids of all ages. Pretty cool concept!

They do a lot of stuff with Skid Row Radio (community radio station) and Marrickville Street Festival etc but don't assume this is your average political book store. I'd love to see them install a little café in here, it's the kind of shop that would make a great café/bookshop/arts hub- it has that kind of vibe anyway. They frequently do events here so all the bookshelves are on wheels. They just roll them to the side and voila, performance space for slam poetry nights and the like! Check out Urchin if you like your bookshops friendly and artsy.

He made it sound like a really easy worthwhile process that I might just head in there over the next few weeks to get my lap top serviced. I think it could do with a bit of extra attention. And I think James has just the touch.
