Trailing through the pines of Martin park
Steph P.

My four legged companion and I have now made this park our go to for off leash activities. Whether we want to go for a run on the many trails tucked back in the trees, play frisbee/fetch balls in the open area surrounded by trees and trails, get our feet wet in the creek (flowing from a spring) or just await the newcomers and initiate play/wrestle time, this little doggy haven is the place to do it all. There are regulars that have their designated times morning or afternoon. I find that it's great to link up with people who often go to Martin park because their dogs are usually the more calm/submissive type and we like to surround ourselves with stability. But, this isn't always the case... Some may turn their heads at the idea of an off leash unfenced area however, if you and your furry one are on good terms there should be no issues. The fence is lined through out the back of the park so once you're in the trees you're far from open roads. Come play with us we usually go weekend mornings and every to every other weekday evening.

We LOVE this park so much. It is definitely worth the 40 minute drive for us. The streams are a plus because our little guy loves dipping his feet in the water from time to time. The environment and atmosphere of the whole place is just awesome. Our little one is always wiped out after spending a few hours here.

My son having fun.

I love this park. I literally had so much fun with my family here for three whole hours. My two dogs and my son had an amazing time. The only bad thing about my trip was that my car got broken into. They shattered two of my windows. I walked up to my car with glass covered all over my son's carseat. I had nothing of value for them to take but the windows come up to 521 dollars in damage. As a teacher that amount isnt easy to come up with. They lady who parked next to me was robbed as well. She lost over 500 dollars worth of stuff and also has to pay the damages from the window. So even though the park is considered to be 5 stars because my family and I had so much fun there. You have to be careful. Make sure you park near a camera. It's crazy how I went here to do something inexpensive with my family and walk out having to spend more than half my paycheck.

Awesome the dog loves this place. Especially doing laps in the creek. Sleeps like a baby on our way home.

A peaceful slice of nature and great fun for the pooch. Don't forget to let your dog do laps with the other dogs down at the stream. So much fun, great exercise and primo dog watching. Everybody I've met here has been super friendly.

Dex loving the water after some frisbee play :-)

Great dog park! I drive here from Raleigh because Dex loves it so much. Hiking thru the woods, open areas for frisbee and ball throwing and a stream to cool off and play in. So far have met some great people and other pups too!

The kids had as much fun as our puppy Jesse did. All the trails are nice and there dog toys to use and poop bags also.

There are two areas: one for small breeds (under 30 pounds) and one for large breeds (over 30 pounds). Each area has benches and water stations. Please note, any dog with a history of aggressive behavior is prohibited in the park. I wish this could be implemented more strictly but the majority of the dogs we saw at the park were friendly.

So this is a beautiful park, pretty spacious with a bench and a nice drinking fountain for pets…read more The issue is the people that come here. First time I came here a girl brought her eight week old puppy into the large dog side when there were some big damn dogs up in here. We tried to politely explain that maybe not the best idea because she hasn't had her shots and she could be hurt. She got super angry and stormed out. Said the puppy had her shots (um, no) and then glared at everyone from the small dog side. Second time some dudes dog comes and pees on my leg, no big deal except that's a training opportunity. He said I "shouldn't have worn such nice stuff to a dog park." I was wearing dirty jeans and three year old boots. I don't care if dogs jump on me, jump on my boots, get me filthy with black mud. That I can just remove. If your dog pisses on my damn shoes that's a different story and while it happens, it's an opportunity for you to say "NO!" And explain to your dog that we don't pee on people. Instead he literally laughed. So yeah, nice enough dog park with clueless people who don't pick up their dog shit. The good outweighs the bad but don't be surprised when people act a fool.
