Our two trips to Ireland's Donegal County were made so much better through Martin's knowledge of the land and skilled driving. We were lucky enough to find his services for our first trip in 2012 for our day of touring to the ancient village at Glencolumkille from Donegal Town. He knew just where to go for lunch in Kilibegs along the way, and afterwards drove us along the most scenic roads, not the highway (as it is), to the village. Our family of four felt safe and comfortable in his car, relaxing and enjoying the day, instead of fretting over missing a turn, or losing precious time in getting lost. Martin made us feel at home with conversation. Just right- not too many questions, and always calm and kind.
When just the two of us decided to return to Ireland last summer, July 2015, we knew we had to ask for Martin's hackney services to make the trip its best. How right we were! Martin was our guide to the boat to see the cliffs at Slieve Leagh, and even secured our tickets. After our 2 hours at sea, he knew that we would enjoy seeing the view from above and expertly drove the narrow, winding road to the top. It was breathtaking! Then, Martin drove us to a favorite local place for a delicious lunch, and we were so glad he accepted our invitation to join us while we dined. We made stops along the way, at our request but only with Martin's know-how, before he dropped us at the cottage in Ardara we had rented. We would not have found it on our own! Thankfully, Martin was sure he could find it, and he did, without one wrong turn. The next day, he returned to take us on a day-long trip. We had ideas of where we wanted to go, and Martin made our wishes come true. We enjoyed many pleasant conversations on many topics as the miles passed by. Martin's driving was always safe, and we were always at ease. Our offer for his family to stay with us at our home in California still stands.
How I wish we were going back to Ireland this summer! We would surely include time with Martin taking us to new destinations for very reasonable fees, if we were. read more
