Rosental is a huge park in Leipzig. It has two different sections, a huge lawn near the zoo, which…read moreis a decent place for picnic and it also has probably the best dog park in town. The other part, which is a bit further from the city center, is dense forest, where it's hard to believe you're still in the middle of a city. It has a great viewing platform in the middle of the woods, with breathtaking views on Leipzig and its surrounding area. There's no entrance fee, but unfortunately it means sometimes it's packed with drunk teenagers. It's a bit hard to get there, since there's no trams or busses nearby, and you will probably need a cell phone with gps. It's not amongst the most important sights in Leipzig, but if you have a few days in town or if you're a local, it definitely worth a visit.
Wow just wow, this monument is larger than life! I am not…read moreone for history per say but this was a must see monument in the area and it's places like this that inspire one to want to learn history. The sheer sizer of this place is astonding from afar and even more so inside. We opted for the audio guide and wish there had been more information in more places but it was intertaining unlike any other audio tour we've had with a bit of humor and normalcy that was refreshing. Steps, steps and more steps in thisplace but well worth them all; take the elevator where you can and prepare yourself for some amazing city views. This will be a location we will not soon forget and will recommend to others.
Monument to the battle of the nations is a tourist attraction that my cousin (who lives there)…read morerecommended was a must see while in Leipzig. I probably should've gotten the headphones with audio recording so that I could've gotten more of the history because aside from a movie and a pamphlet there wasn't a bunch of information around. The moment is very tall and it allows you to walk up a bunch of super narrow, windy staircases, but once at the top the views are gorgeous.
