Very picturesque grounds with surrounding lake - lots of sculptures surround the main house and their are lots of pathways to take you into the gardens, woods and to help you get into nature I also thought it was funny that no one is allowed on the grass and security spent their whole shift chasing people away - as no one paid any attention to the signage Saw lots of goose parents w/ their goslings - adorable! So while you couldn't necessarily come here to picnic, it is still well worth a visit for a leisurely stroll & breathtaking scenery

Very beautiful castle that (best of all) has its own brewery as well! Wandering in the castle was nicer than in most other castles I've ever visisted around the central/eastern europe, since there wasn't much other people around. It was quiet. And romantic. So, I recommend to check it out with your girl/boyfriend and after the round in the castle, please try that beautiful beer in castle pub/restaurant. By train from Dresden it takes about an hour to get there.

We were staying in the Altmark, there was a direct tram to Pillnitz. It took us around 30-40 mins. After got off the tram we still needed to got and the boat to the other side of of the place. Luckily we got the day ticket. So didn't have to spent extra money just for the small trip. the boat trip took about just 2 mins to the side. After we got off from the boat, it took another 5 mins on foot. Then we arrived the schloss Pillnitz. We walked around the castle, I already amazed by the architecture from outside. It didn't took long, we found the entrance. The entrance fee was cheaper than I expected. Also got of map from there. Inside this place, it was really beautiful. I was totally impressed by it. The castle looked really different compared with the others I have visited so far. As I looked at the style of architecture here, some Asian style out it this. On the wall, I could see this place has a close relation with aisa back then. For the inside museum, need to pay extra for entance. Of couse if your ticket already included then you don't have to. We also visited the greenhouse inside. Quite nice and peaceful. When we were there, the were a pianist playing some classic at the background. It was really a plus point for our journey. We had great time there just explored around this place. It's really beautiful and cultural. At the end we spent almost two hours there. I think, this is one of the place must visit in Dresden. Brilliant!

St Vitus and the Old Royal Palace Diet hall were our favorite parts of the interior. The Coat of arms on the ceilings and the interpretive signs explaining how the land rolls were stored are interesting history. Once you are done with the interior, stroll through the gardens and also head south to view the uncrowded streets of the castle complex with 18th century Rococo, Baroque and other buildings including the National Gallery, Tuscan Palace and Archbishop Palace.
