I grew up in Terre Haute and am all too familiar with Rea Park Golf Course and Driving Range…read more Going to THS across the street, it appears that not much has changed at Rea Park since graduating from THS in the late 80's. But hey, even a 2 Star is better than a 1 Star. Rea Park is a well used, public golf course. Nothing uniquely interesting and on this day, I was only really out at the driving range. A large bucket of balls was not particularly cheap after walking into the crappy, dated clubhouse (hey...in defense of the crappy, dated clubhouse, it was built in 1922!). I enjoyed the quiet on the Sunday afternoon I found myself at the range. If you are simply looking to swing a few clubs, are new to the game or have a golf game that is on budget, I think Rae Park will work out just fine.

Seriously just showed up to Rea Park (by myself) at 2:50p and was told I can't get 18 holes in and…read morewas turned away. So many times this year that courses have done this. This one much more than others. You're a mid level city course, no dress code, short yardage and hardly challenging. You're not a country club so get rid of the country club attitude and start being respectful to the members of the community that want to visit your course. Highly disappointed. When I do get to play there, the course is well kept. The carts sometimes get weak by the last few holes. The gentlemen in the front office are usually rude to most of the guys that play in our group. Staffing attitude is probably what keeps this course from being one that I prefer to play. I'd rather play a course that cost twice as much with staff that treats you with respect.

Please note that the Country Club of Terre Haute is a private club. So despite the fact that you…read morecould not walk up and have dinner or play golf unless you were a member yourself or with a member, you could have a wedding reception or banquet there. They are open to the public for large events and it would be a great venue to do so. So whether you are considering membership or a destination for an event you are hosting, you should absolutely consider the Country Club of Terre Haute (CCTH). I grew up in Terre Haute and even grew up at CCTH in many ways. It is as beautiful today as it was 30 years ago. My vantage point is most commonly from the golf course, so I might be skewed by well manicured fairways and beautiful mature trees. It really is quite a nice course and I enjoy playing it. Staff in pro shop are friendly and they have a nice selection of golf wear, shoes, clubs, etc. Clubhouse staff are also friendly and accommodating. When considering food options available in Terre Haute, CCTH is comparable or better. It is hard to review an option on Yelp that is a private club, but I felt compelled to do so because it is a special place. Nostalgic in many ways and unique to Terre Haute and its history.

My initial thoughts....what a big store full of all sorts of sporting good needs, but man my foam…read moreroller I was seeking that cost $60 was a bit of a price shocker! In addition to loads of athletic wear and clothing of good brands (but nothing really outside the box or above and beyond what I might have expected), they have a lot of merchandise in general. A big athletic shoe section, a freakishly large sandal aisle and all sorts of pool stuff to name a mere fraction of all they sell. Golf area is not extensive, but at least they have a golf section. Prices are not outlet or discounted, but they do have sale sections around the store. I liked the "Fan Store" area near the front selling IU, ISU, Colts, team ware of athletic programs in the Indiana area. So in defense of the $60 foam roller....it is kind of a fancy one with ridges and also exceptionally firm foam that I know will hold up to the test of time. It was actually the only full body one they sold, although they had lots of half size/smaller ones too for more targeted muscle rolling/stretching. So yeah, I had never heard of the Academy Sports + Outdoors brand, but I am a fan and would go back.

This was the first and very LAST time I will be shopping this company. Below is the feedback I…read moresubmitted to the company when they reached out to me for a review of my shopping experience. ## NOTE ## I have not been in this store. My entire experience was online. But after reading the reviews posted here, I can see why my experience was as poor as it was. ... The entire checkout process is riddled with shortfalls. 1) I was offered a $20 discount immediatly if I applied for, was approved for and used the assigned Academy charge card. I bit, was approved and was unable to utilize the card when I was directed back to the website because I didn't yet know the number. 2) I immediatly called and was told that there is no way for me to get the number and that it would be all right to place the order later. There would be a coupon for $20 off my next purchase inside the mailer with the physical card. I just needed to call after I placed that order and "customer service (hang on, I'm laughing hard right now) would apply the discount to my order. 3) I received the card and was surprised that it was not a $20 bonus but an offer of "up to 15% off my first order". 4)When I called to activate the card, I was drilled 4 times by the agent on the phone to take the "free for the first month" credit protection in exchange for a future discount (Academy and it's partners have not had a good track record so far). It wasn't until after the agent said he was going to put it on anyway and I threatened him to cancel the card immediatly that he stopped. IF I find it was applied, my attorney, Mike Miller of Miller, Fanucci and McGing will be reaching out to Academy and it's partners with an offer of a minimum of $100,000 settlement or the chance for a trial in Federal court. 4) The website would not accept the coupon and called "customer service (insert another belly laugh here)" and was informed that it is not procedure to do such a thing as edit an order to apply a discount. But, as a offer of good will, they would resquest someone to look at the order and make the necessary adjustment - but would not guarantee it would be done. When I told them to cancel the order, which they said could not be done, the agent agreed to apply a $20 credit. I have yet to receive a bill so we'll see what happens. I will be back to update this review if anything changes ... I think everyone I have spoken with so far is full of S#!T.
