Unionville tennis club is literally in my backyard. so the location…read moreis fantastic! for me that is. i love this community club. it is a private club but not for profit. it is entirely run by a group of dedicated volunteers most of whom have lived in Unionville all their lives. they spend a crazy number of hours FREE just to keep this club running well and keeping it affordable for all. The early bird membership for adults for the entire season (April to October) is only $120 and no court fee!!! yet, the club has a full time MONITOR to organize and facilitate court booking. They have 9 top-notch courts (4 rebuild last year) and three of them are CLAY courts (green clay). i am so lucky to have accept to this club. they have a tennis pro who is amazing (Andy Sutton) with 20+ years of experience. they offer a lot of organized events (round robins) and doubles. they have teams for all ages as well and their junior teams perform well - usually 1st or 2nd in the region.

There's 4 courts hidden away behind the back end of the parking lot behind a play structure. Because it's a small club hidden away, it's pretty easy to get court time. Cost is pretty cheap for membership and programs. Tried out the junior program on weekends and joined the adult ladder later on and both have been a blast! They also host year end tournaments which is super competitive and fun, but nothing beats the year end bbq when all the members come out to collect their medals! Overall, club is a 10/10 and would recommend to all tennis players and those looking to get into the sport.

To what Mayfair has responded - they are shifting blame towards the members. As this is not an isolated incident; the apparent authority of a membership services employee* and the clubs subsequent failure to take accountability for the loss of their members is extremely disappointing. Their revenues are hurting from the new upgrades and members getting fed up and leaving - it will surely only get worse until they become insolvent.

To my surprise, during this month of July, Mayfair was almost filled with students and swimming lessons through the day and members' right as a member are severely compromised. When I try to book a lane swimming this morning, there was almost nil openings until after 7 p.m. I think this is a serious breach of membership's rights under a contract for services with the club and someone should start a class action to seek a partial refund of the membership fees. I look forward to responses from members that will echo my grievances.

Pro tip: do NOT park your car at the neighbouring seemingly empty lot- it belongs to ford, and they are NOT friendly neighbours. Your car will get towed without a warning. This community centre is spacious and clean. Everything is easy to find. The gym is gigantic and stretches far beyond my eyes. The pool is 50m, worked by beautiful and hardworking lifeguards (lol just kidding, shameless plug). Both areas have plenty of seating for viewers. The hallways are large and extensive, so don't be afraid to wander around. There's also a fitness centre overlooking the pool. It's kind of small and lame but I rarely see it packed, so I guess it'd be a good idea. It's not great for lifting, but it has a lot of equipment for such a small gym. The regulars are usually older adults, trying to get some exercise in.

Downstairs is the recreation clubhouse where members can swim, play tennis, and do other leisure activities. There were 4 major rooms in the venue: Bridal changing room - a huge room for the bride and bridesmaids to get ready and keep all the belongings here for safety. Ceremony room - super high ceiling, perfect for the wedding ceremony. The venue uses beautiful champagne chiavari chairs. It has an upstairs balcony in the front for great aerial shots, a mini stage, and a small table on the side for signing official documents. Functional room - after the ceremony, we were led to another room for cocktail hour x open bar! The venue staff were serving us delicious h'orderves! I believe my friend picked the most popular 6 items on the list of appetizers and one of them was a Montreal smoked meat station!! #heaven #sogood Main Reception/Banquet Hall - Gorgeous room with lots of windows for natural light :) Fits perfectly if you have 200 guests or so. Although there are pillars but no obstructed view of the centre stage :) The view from the large L shape balcony was very beautiful. We had Chinese styled 10 course meal prepared by Chef from the venue. Not bad :) Two bars opened during the night; all you can drink! The bartender we had on our side was fantastic - he was fast, personable and very funny ;) Another friend of mine actually booked this wedding venue for next year... Large ceremony room, beautiful gold chairs, great lighting for photos, wonderful service and coordinator, and a great price made the decision really easy. The outside space is just as lovely but our guests stayed indoors as it was hot. We just took some photos outside and had we had the ceremony outside, they had a rain room just in case. The bridal suite was lovely and enough space for me and the girls to get ready. I highly recommend Lino and the team.

The store is dedicated to stringing services with up-to-date rackets, shoes, bags, and accessories. Although the selection is limited and leaning to the most popular items, the price is relatively cheaper. A few months back I purchased a Nanospeed that's $15 cheaper than Sportchek and Lee's Badminton pro-shop. And recently had my rackets strung for $25 each inclusive of string and labour, and performance had utmost feel and durability. Same guy after all these years, Koyo, and its always a pleasant visit. He talks to me about my preferences whenever I get my rackets strung as if briefly validating what I want versus what I need. Sometimes I have questions on how a higher or lower string tension would help me and he shares recommendations and insights with progressive sensibility. They accept debit and credit cards; open from 11:30am to 7:30pm except Tuesdays; open from 12:30 to 5:30pm Sundays; lunch breaks from 3-4pm everyday.
