He is so knowledgeable about every disease state, and will walk you through the science behind what is going on in your body. He is so thorough and gets to the bottom of your ailment. He is not one of the doctors who will let you walk out the door without an answer! And his main priority are his patients. He is always going above and beyond. Cannot recommend him enough! While he seemed knowledgeable, his bedside manner was lacking. There was no compassion there. I didn't feel comfortable discussing another important personal health matter with him because of his demeanor. At the end of the day, I had my physical done and that's what matters but it wasn't the most positive experience. Fast forward to two months later. I made an appointment for 9AM for my follow up. I arrive at 8:55. When I arrive there is one other patient sitting and waiting to be seen. As I sit down, she is called in for Dr. Sims. I wait... wait and wait.... 45 minutes later I ask the nurse if my appointment was for 9 or 9:30. She told me it was 9:00 but there was another doctor there and there were no rooms available for me to be seen. That sounded like a crock of shit to me because the entire 45 minutes I was there, no patients came in or out. At 45 minutes, I walked out. And I felt good doing so. I didn't like him anyway and I don't wait 45 minutes for anyone. My time is just as valuable and as precious as his and if this is how patients are treated, I don't need to go there. I am currently having my records forwarded to another doctor. Additionally I met with Dr. Imbornone (sp?) on one occasion for an upper respiratory infection. Again, a very competent doctor but no bedside manner whatsoever. Very dry, no compassion, very clinical. My infection went away with the meds he gave me but there was no connection there. He didn't even shake my hand. Again, I guess this is how the doctors are there and for some people, that works. For me, I like a little more.

Don't get me wrong. He IS a doctor, so he DOES sometimes go into clinical mode, but....if you ask him to break it down into layman's terms, he will. He IS a doctor, and he is going to tell you not to do all of the fun stuff that you wanna do (What? I can't eat cheeseburgers everyday?) But, if you ask him to deal in reality, he will certainly do so. Sorry that you didn't have a good experience, Jen. I have taken off a star solely for the front desk. Sometimes getting someone to answer the phone is like pulling teeth. Edited to add the following: I remember one time I went in to see Dr. Sims and I was feeling particularly miserable. I must have looked incredibly miserable because he actually gave me a hug. The hug wasn't inappropriate or creepy, it was actually very kind. Kudos, Dr. Sims!

Dr. Jeffrey Barasch was highly recommended by an excellent internist in Bergen County.  I found…read more he helped me in ways that other doctors could not or did not.  His office continues to be most helpful.  Lisa Finnegan is the nurse practitioner who works with him and she is encouraging, diligent, thorough, personable, reasonable and uses excellent judgement.  There are a number of other employees who also work in the Ridgewood Office.  I found all of the staff people to be helpful, knowledgeable, efficient, personable, professional and thorough.  I recommend this highly-recommended medical office to others who have sleep or breathing issues to address.  Some of the names of other staff include, Lisa (a second person with this name), Karen (not sure of spelling), Amber and Sheenah. Employees at the Valley Medical Sleep lab, who were efficient, helpful, polite, knowledgeable and positive in other ways include, but not limited to: Erika, John and Katherine.

My husband saw the Dr about a year ago for an appt and needed a follow up..when I called and spoke…read moreto the receptioniost I was told Dr B was booked for MONTHS but if my husband wanted to see the NP he could get an appt sooner (so I made the appt) I clearly explained why I was calling and asked questions BEFORE making the appt (kin a nutshell I was told my husband would need to be seen and would require another sleep study) ...long story short..nothing was accomplished at the appt and my insurance was charged $200! My husband was told there is no reason the appliance isn't working and he should have seen the dentist who made the appliance. I called to explain the situation and how before making the appt I explained what has been done and asked what we needed to do at this point....and was pretty much told tough luck....BEWARE!!
