I really don't understand Young Professional's review. "Mariuca Yoga" is a nice place to practice and the staff is always very friendly and helpful. There are special days in a year when more women decide to start with yoga (e.g. after Christmas vacation for obvious reasons!) or if suddenly everybody wants to work on their bodies to be adorable during the next beach holiday. So the room might be a bit crowded from time to time, BUT usually you always have enough space to practice, and the instructors are not only focussing on the group, but on individual needs. I have the feeling that everybody feels comfortable within the group, in the room and with the instructors. It doesn't matter, if you already are a professional yogi/yogini or if you are a beginner, you'll always get the help or the advice that YOU need.
Also, I really like the atmosphere. If you come in time, you can have free water or herbal tea and enjoy a little chat with other participants and the owner. There are candles and nice Indian background music. People share their yoga experiences and it is an open and welcoming atmosphere.
For me, the only annoying thing is, if you have just started the class...closed eyes...deep ujjayi breathing...thoughts are leaving you...and a doorbell rings because someone is ten minutes late. I think it is right that classes start at a certain time and that the owner is strict about coming late because it is REALLY disturbing when you practice yoga like it is supposed to be (e.g. with a silent meditation in the beginning).
I'd like to recommend "mariuca yoga" to everybody from couch potato to professional---it's lovely! read more
