hotel marissa was our home base during our 24 hour visit to cordoba. i picked this hotel for 2 reasons: 1) convenience, it was located right across the street from the mezquita and very close to all of the other tourist attractions and 2) price, a room for 2 was only €50 for the night, approximately $67 at the time.
this hotel is very, very bare bones, nothing fancy, as our room had 2 small twin beds with a small nightstand, armoir, and chair. all of the furniture was pretty old, but functional. there was a very small tube-style tv in the room, and a remote given to us by the concierge (to be returned to him upon checkout), but we never even used the tv since we were only in the room to shower and sleep.
we did notice that they renovated their bathroom as the shower and sink appeared to be more modern than the rest of the furnishings in this room. note that the shower was very, very small, barely enough space for either my husband or i (small framed adults) to stand, close the sliding doors, and shower. the detachable shower head worked well and we had running hot water. towels and soap were provided for us, but nothing else, so it was a good thing we brought our own shampoo, conditioner, and face wash.
although the room was small, there was actually a teeny weeny balcony next to the armoir, not big enough to actually walk out and enjoy the view, but enough to stick my head out and see one wall of the mezquita and anyone who was walking around on the street just outside our hotel.
the concierge who checked us in and checked us out barely spoke english, but it was fine since we didn't need much from him...just return the key and remote upon checkout to avoid any additional fees! there were some small souvenirs as well as soft drinks and water in the lobby for sale.
we didn't stay here very long, mainly to sleep and shower, but we would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone who just needs a cheap and convenient place to leave their belongings and sleep. read more
